HARM OCD DRIVING
Hello, I have been having Harm OCD episodes where I hit a bump in the road or drive past someone, or even zone out when driving and worry I hit someone by accident. Has anyone else dealt with this or has any suggestions to deal with this? Thank you!
Yes! I’ve dealt with this for 20 years. This was the first type of OCD I had. I have to hyper focus and then I do mostly ok but honestly just not going back even though it’s SOO hard not to. I know that if I hit someone I wouldn’t be wondering. I would know.
it is impossible that you would run over someone and not damage your car severely like running over a deer would you would definitely noticed that. treat this like ocd , I would recommend sitting with uncertainty.
Ocd about hitting someone while driving and not realizing? And guilt over being a distracted driver (I changed the radio while driving many times). Any ever have this? I want to go back to the street I was driving on to make sure no one is hurt
I always worry I’ve accidentally cut someone off in traffic and caused a major accident that I didn’t see. I always feel like I’m on the verge of being arrested at any moment for having unwittingly harmed someone. Sometimes I’ll turn around, others I’ll look online for traffic accident reports. Other times it just won’t get out of my head, and I just try to remember every detail to quell the anxiety. Sometimes I worry it’s not OCD, it’s paranoia…budding psychosis. If you feel safe/comfy, would you share your similar experiences?
Does anyone here experience hit and run ocd? If so, do you mind sharing any tips on how to deal with it? I’m struggling! I can’t drive anywhere without it creeping up on me, I try not to drive around for reassurance but I always do and it definitely doesn’t help! I spend the rest of the night trying to remember every detail of my driving and I’m always checking the news I hate it ughhhhh
