My life ended in july when this started. Im waiting for it to come back. Ive been unemployed and cant keep a job because its so debilitating. I used to be happy, But i dont think ill ever be okay again. Its like i died and im just here observing life happen.
My OCD started in April and it held me captive until August when i finally got on medication and started therapy. I can say my life is 99% back to normal now. What tools and resources are you using currently?
@TexasOCD41 Ive been on medication since july and recently started more, and ive just started therapy for ocd. It feels like no matter what i do im always going to feel this way.
@patheticgirl43 - You either were not on the right dose or not on the right medication and therapy will help if you work the program. The feeling is natural. i felt like it would last forever too. Then one day i noticed i was a TINY bit better, still miserable but just a smidge better. The next day i was a tiny bit more better and within a month i was fantastic. i saw my therapist tiwce a week and increased my dose 3 times before finding the sweet spot, also added a mood stabalizer with it. you just gotta find your sweet spot and DONT GIVE UP.
A friend of mine has OCD, and he's well-connected with many doctors and psychiatrists. They mentioned to him that a challenging aspect of OCD is the time it takes to stabilize and manage effectively. During this period, the symptoms can lead to significant disruptions, such as job loss and strained relationships. By the time the disorder is under control, these consequences might already have taken a toll. Therefore, it's crucial to seek professional help as early as possible to minimize potential damage.
If you started medication in July and is not helping, I’d talk to my doctor about the dosage or changing to another medication. You can get better, but you do have to get therapy to really get control of your OCD.
What do you think triggered your OCD?
@Anonymous I genuinely have no clue. This happened to me last year, and the year before. The one from the year before was triggered by russia/ukraine war. These other 2 episodes? No clue. This episode is the longest and most debilitating ive had so far though.
My contamination OCD was triggered by insomnia. Once I started sleeping a little bit better I was able to get my OCD somewhat under control. Maybe there was a life event or circumstance that was a trigger and when you come to terms with that it will help you with the OCD. I was spraying Lysol all over my bed and apartment in July and August but I don't do that anymore. I am able to work full-time. The OCD hasn't totally gone away but it is much more manageable. Some of the ssris that are supposed to help don't help everyone.
Will I ever be a girl again ? Is this just my life now ? At this point it’s just making me depressed. I feel idk who I am anymore and the person thought I was is fading completely. It hurts to see other pretty girl doing great in life like that’s what I wanted . I wanted to be a pretty girl who loved her self and did good in life . I want a husband, baby all of that shit . And I feel like this just holds me back from living up to my true potential.
I don’t think I’ll ever be the same after I recover from this. A huge part of me is gone.
I feel like OCD has made me a shell of the person I used to be. I am not able to keep up with work, family or friends. I am worried I will lose the ability to work and connect.
