I had a black box side effect and I’ve been on 5 different medications in the past 2 months. I did a gene site test and it said Zoloft was one of my better medications but it was the worst one I could imagine being on. Has anyone had this same experience?
may I ask what the side effect is? i take this medication daily and it has helped my ocd but everyone is different
@Anonymous The thought of shooting myself though I had no reason to die and did not want to at all it was awful. It was after just the first day starting too and I brought it up to the doctor and she said this wasn’t normal.
@htapscott and the thought disappeared straight after stopping?
@Anonymous No it took about a week for that to end but each day it was better and better after. Once I got over the half life of the med it was better

What were your side effects? I was on half a 25mg dose for 3 days and had to get off of it. I’d be willing to try any other SSRI again except for Zoloft. I felt almost manic. Racing thoughts to the point where it felt like I had Eminem in my head but with intrusive thoughts and rumination. Even in my sleep, and then I had AWFUL stomach cramps. I’ve talked to two other people who also had almost immediate terrible reactions to this med for some reason.
"eminem in my head" made me laugh 🤣 sorry to hear you had side effects too. I've been on 100mg for 6 years now and my OCD is much more manageable.
@issphra 🫶🏻 I had to get off it right after I started too it was so awful I’m having to deal with the side effects still.
Hi everyone, I’m 23 and have been on Zoloft since I was 16. For the past couple months I’ve been having panic attacks more and I’m sick of feeling like a zombie everyday. My boyfriend said I’m very sad and unhappy then when I first met him 2 years ago…. He thinks it’s the medicine. Throughout the years I have upped and lowered my medication, but now, I feel as though it’s not helping. Either it was too much where I didn’t feel emotions at all like very scary stuff or it wasn’t enough to help me. I was given 5mg of Lexapro to try…. I’m scared to take it. All I know is how Zoloft is. I don’t want to go crazy on it, be allergic to it, etc. I feel like I’m going to trip myself out when I take it and not actually feel the difference. I could really use some positive feedback I really just want to be a normal human😭
For starters I was on this medicine before i remember the first few weeks were very scary and debilitating. I don’t remember why I stopped taking it , it was about 7 months ago. but I just recently started back because my ocd and anxiety has been off the chain. I keep having bad thoughts about the side affects and I’m terrified like “ what if I have a seizure” can anybody share an experience? Anyone on Zoloft here. Thanks !
How many antidepressants have you all tried? I’m on my fourth and possibly transitioning to a fixity because the current one isn’t working. I’ve now done Genesight testing and I was prescribed Pristiq. It hasn’t reduced my anxiety at all. I was wondering if anyone else had to try many medications? And if so, did you eventually find one that worked?
