You ever just get concerned that when you acknowledge your family members beauty or body beauty standards that you are somehow attracted to them? I often brush it off and say deep down I’m probably jealous cause I’m not good looking. But honestly I’m a bit frightened by these thoughts. As many would be.
Yup! This was something I struggled with a lot in my early months of POCD, (still comes up every now and then, but not nearly as strong!). There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that someone’s good looking or cute, it’s just an observation! Again, we can’t help how we think, sometimes, people just genuinely look good and that’s it! But we do control our actions! You think every old man out there sees a stunning 20 year old model and doesn’t think “wow! She’s pretty!” Or “whoa, I would’ve took her out for a drink back in my day!”. Of course they do! But how we treat these people and interact with them is what matters, not our initial observations!

@YellowGirraffe09 I can see this comment, I can also see your other posts. I truly don’t believe you are a monster or your thoughts, but you need to practice your uncertainty. You’ve been in a sort of “frenzy” these last few days, and I urge you to please, seek help with a therapist or someone that’s trained in ERP. I promise you, no amount of posts or people telling you otherwise can ever satisfy your OCD’s hunger for answers. You’re spiraling, and it’s getting to a point where you’re dependent on the opinions/comfort of others! Only someone who’s trained to help you learn how to cope with these overwhelming thoughts and paranoia can help you.
@Julian2006 But why did I move the child closer for a sexual feeling… can OCD do this I’m honestly loosing hope
@YellowGirraffe09 OCD can do a lot of things that scare us. I urge you to seek help, I’m not licensed to help with these sorts of things! But I can safely say, that from my experience, OCD makes me believe that I’ve done things with the most malicious intentions, when the truth is, I didn’t. Now, please. If you can, talk to a therapist. Your flareup seems to be extremely severe! Let’s not flood this other person’s post seeking support, they’re struggling too! We all just need to practice our response prevention methods.
@Julian2006 I just had a thought of a child’s private areas then I also thought about it more wanting to and picturing it…. But it was a quick moment until I just clicked back into reality!!! I’m so scared is this ocd
@Julian2006 TW THIS MAY TRIGGER OTHERS WITH POCD! Please don’t read if you think it may trigger you My Pocd made me think of a child private areas and then for a split moment I genuinely pictured one in my head willingly… I’m literally so mad with myself and I just can’t cope. I’ve already had 4 showers today and it’s 1am and I’m waiting for my bedding to be washed due to my ocd. Then after this I was eating a grape and my brain said to touch a certain part as it feels like a kids private area and in the moment I was already moving my tongue around but then moved it to a certain area due to the thought. It’s upset me so much Can ocd do what I’ve just explained!!!

@YellowGirraffe09 See how none of my answers to your questions satisfy the fear? This is exactly what your OCD wants! It’s only getting worse because you keep seeking that comfort! We have to stay uncomfortable to become comfortable! Sit with the uncertainty. I can’t keep reassuring you without feeling like I’m sabotaging your recovery! Sit with the feeling, read my post about response preventions! OCD is a battle between us and them! We can receive support from time to time to keep us on our feet, but we have to face our fears head on alone to truly get over it!

Am I the only one who experiences this, or is it more common than I think? Sometimes, I find myself imagining what a couple’s sex life might look like, or what a person’s body might be like. I think it’s driven by curiosity, and I focus on it for a few seconds. When it comes to family members, teenagers, or anyone I feel uncomfortable imagining in this way, I used to be able to shake it off as an intrusive thought. But lately, I can’t seem to let go of it anymore. I’ve become used to the anxiety, but I’m stuck questioning what this means about me, especially since I’ve taken time to think about it. This is really stressing me out because I feel like a pervert. I’m hoping that this is something more common than I realize and that OCD is just distorting something. I feel like I really need some insight here. Any advice?
How is this OCD? Who with Pocd thinks about a naked child ???? I was over here thinking if I’m actually attracted to kids because I find some of them good looking you know and my little cousin I have thoughts about her too and I was thinking about her naked but I wasn’t aroused or nothing so that’s where I’m confused It was intentional so does that make me a p*do?
Hi everyone, I have been struggling with something for a while and I am starting to wonder if it is related to OCD. For as long as I can remember, I have had this habit of looking at people, whether friends, family, or strangers and even kids, through a lens that feels like it is from the perspective of someone who might find them attractive or sexualize them. I don’t want to feel attracted; it just feels like my brain automatically puts them in that perspective. I’ve done this for as long as I can remember, and I honestly thought it was just part of me being curious or creative. I have always thought this was just a quirk of my brain, but now I am starting to wonder if it is an OCD thing, especially since it feels automatic and I get anxious afterward. Has anyone else experienced this? I did not think this was part of OCD, but now I am not so sure.
