Groinal or real? Fear during…

I have a lot of experience with groinals. It sucks but the best thing to do in the situation is to move on. Simple right? Of course not lol we have OCD. Nothings simple. But thats the way to handle it. Your logical brain knows that “I don’t like this stuff” but your OCD brain goes “but maybe…” Just be set in your values. You know what you want and what you like.

I would like to also say I DO NOT want or enjoy this, I do like this one quote of Made of Millions “If you do not want it, if you do not like it, then it is an intrusive thought/ groinal response”

So words and terminology is very important, luckily I remembered something. The definition of arousal: Arousal is a state of heightened physiological and psychological activity, ranging from deep sleep to extreme alertness, excitement, or sexual stimulation. So the process of creating fear in the brain causes for adrenaline to prepare you to fight or flight. While your brain is trying to do its job it is also creating dopamine in the brain, which is why some of us like watching horror movies, we like that we get scared during horror movies. It’s an enjoyable experience because it creates dopamine. Though this also applies to situations in a brain that is too active, like one that has ocd. Your brain is screaming at you “this doesn’t fell safe” our monkey brains haven’t evolved when it comes to differentiating a tiger about to eat you vs giving a speech. So brain gets scared, your reaction feeds scared brain. Create fear response prevention tactics with therapist trained in ocd. Because ocd is like psychological warfare for monkey brain. Monkey brain can’t do it alone, monkey brain needs back up, and it looks like asking for help. And the most important thing I told myself. The physical responses, are actually nothing. My body is just reacting. But my brain doesn’t like it, brain doesn’t consent. And the brain will determine whether I like something or not. Not the ocd, and not the physical responses.
