SSRI’s why do they suck so bad but help so much?
Mostly just venting but also wanting to hear other people’s experiences. I have been on SSRI’s since I was 12. I’ve stopped and started many times between now and then. I’m now 38. I’ve been on Paxil, Lexapro, Zoloft, Prozac and Vibryd. I hate them. I get so tired on them and super dry skin, eyes, mouth, hungry all the time, sexual side effects, insomnia, weight gain. But when I’m not on them, it’s hard to function. I feel AMAzING when I first go off of them. For like 3 months. And then it all starts to creep back until I’m struggling to make it through the day. It gave me my life back at 12. And the side effects were minimal. But as I’ve gotten older I’m more sensitive to them. Is anyone else in this boat? Has anyone ever actually found an alternative that works? I’ve tried a lot of supplements and nothing gives me this relief. My eyes got so dry this last time that I got an ulcer kind of thing on one. Ugh. So I stopped and now I am spiraling with health anxiety and scrupulosity.
