Any other grown men out there that struggle with this Theme? I feel like am alone on this one being that I’m going through it in my early to mid 30’s. Feel like this is something most people struggle with earlier in life. The loneliness is real 😞
I am so sorry you feel this way. Please don’t feel you are alone, a lot of us on here have gone or going through the same feelings/ thoughts as you. For me, I had this 14 years ago and it just went one day. But coming up a year in Feb, I have suffered HOCD/SOOCD at its worse. Mine started after watching a video on facebook which questioned again and from that point, I lost all my attraction to females (I was mad about them) and I gain ‘false’ attraction to all males; old, young, voices, cartoons anything male related. This killed me as a married man with two children. I couldn’t sleep, my dreams were about it, fantasies which made me repulsive groinals, you name it it was happening to me, all towards males which made me sick! I lost weight, I couldn’t eat it was awful. I am on medication which has helped a little, I can continue with work and football etc but I still fight the ‘false’ attractions towards males and loss of attraction. Even though sometimes my attraction towards women it comes back sometimes then the questions start. Some days I know it’s not real attraction to males and it’s laughable but the next day it’s back again and most times stronger. But what I do realise is what people told me all along on here is ‘sitting with the uncertainty’ which is extremely hard, I know. I don’t have therapy unfortunately but each day I try to sit with it and label it ‘OCD being loud’ and then continue about my day. You are not alone and I wish you a speedy recovery. P.s. @What is happening to me Well, damn. Thank you so much for sharing and also hitting the nail right on the head for me. This is extremely similar to my current situation and what I have been dealing with for a long time now. I’m also 33 while turning 34 here in a couple weeks, but it’s crazy to know how similar we are in stories and age. Again, thank you for having the courage to open up and let me know your situation. I’ve beat this before and it came back about a year and a half ago on me out of nowhere after some triggering anxiety from an attempt to change my career for work. Like you said, though this time, it’s a hell of a lot worse. I think because I’m a bit older now and realize my prime years are running short. I also had a extremely difficult year with major depression because of this and think I have developed some PTSD on top of it. I’m off meds now because they weren’t helping much but I do now realize they were definitely assisting me getting through my depression. Thanks again for the share.
Yeah I’m 29, and I struggle with this theme as well. This theme I have yet to “master”. It’s probably my worst theme. It is horrible as I have a wife and a child and praying for more. I have been dealing with it for a couple weeks now. Before then it was pretty bad a couple years ago and would trigger all the time. Then it was off and on, and I know it will go away again. I’m working on just accepting the unknown even though I’m 100% against telling myself “I may or may not like men”. It’s a work in progress for me right now but it’s been rough… Trying not to ruminate or answer all the questions that pop in my head. All I can do is agree and accept the intrusive thoughts. I’m working on learning more about this theme and how to overcome it. You’re not alone in this. I just posted about my frustrations on this theme not too long ago, and I haven’t posted in a while.
@HopeInJesus Thanks for sharing man. i’m right there with you learning how to overcome this. I have many other themes that revolve around sexual thoughts. This one is by far one of the hardest because it attacks me everywhere. I don’t have kids yet nor am I married, but I’m in a happy relationship and it’s definitely taking a toll on that as well. Constant anxiety and depression on top of it, which is also the cause of it makes healing and getting through this that much harder. Crazy thing is it seems like a revolving issue with a lot of us. I’ve already experienced this once before and beat it when I was 27. I’m now 34 and it has came back stronger than ever and seems like it is 10 times worse than it once was.
So-ocd as in sexual orientation?

@strugglebusman 29 now. I have years where it’s not an issue at all, but then it just comes back for no reason.
