Jail

Anyone have an intense fear of going to jail? I haven’t actually done anything wrong but my OCD is just telling me I have. The impending doom and anticipatory grief of losing everything is crazy, each day feels like a relief that the police haven’t come to my door. My brain also goes: “Hear those sirens? That’s for you!” *phone rings* “They’re calling you into the station to answer questions!” *someone knocks on the door* “OH THIS IS IT THE TIME HAS COME!” Like it’s so frustrating.

Yesss I look back on my whole life and try to figure out if I've done anything illegal, or even not illegal just not right and think we'll they're still gonna get me 😐 it's really hard.

Funny enough this is one of my biggest issues. I over the years consumed porn that was intense (rape/cnc, incest etc) and only once I quit porn for good by the Grace of God did I ever begin to worry about the content of it. More so things like:”was that legal to watch?” Or “what if they weren’t all actually consenting?” And “what if they were actually underaged?” And so on and so forth. This mostly stems from I used some seedy websites such as motherless and 4chan. I’ve had success firstly avoiding rumination and avoiding compulsively googling things about legality, accidental viewing and etc. that will make me spiral. But also just sitting with the thought and honestly embracing it such as “ok all of thst was illegal nobody was consenting and they were underaged now what” and the brain stops in its tracks on it and goes “well then you goto jail” and I have to respond simply “ok then I guess I’ll goto jail” and that pretty much ends it usually. Living with the uncertain in your mind is what kills ocds core issue. Practice this and you will have much more success.

What I always do is make a little joke out of it. I am intensely afraid of the law and whether I’m gonna be doing something wrong and to calm my brain in my love system down I always joke that if I do end up in jail then I’d assert dominance and become friends with everyone so that I would be okay. then at that point my biggest concern in jail would be whether I want to leave or not. I often answer OCD irrationality with my own irrationality so that I don’t have to be concerned about what I’m thinking because I know it’s inherently false.

Yes <:,) I've had many dreams and scenarios imagining myself in a jail cell and even being locked up for life . (That part is quite overdramatic, but I still am afraid.) It's awful and I've done really dumb stuff when younger, so I'm horrified that they're out to get me.

Yes I get this exact fear and I experienced it yesterday seeing two officers and it put me in a OCD spiral
