Hi everyone! I’m 23 F and would love to have some friends to talk to who also experience relationship ocd. Mine has gotten a lot better but was flaring up this week as my boyfriend just left and we are in a long distance relationship. Any advice or people to chat with who have experience with rocd would be nice:)

@eelaaiinaa I’ve been struggling hard with my rocd (which I just found out about) and I would love to have people to talk to about it. Not sure how that works here.
@Mando87 I’ve been working with a NOCD therapist and we do regular diagnostics for ocd and when I moved in with my partner a few months ago my ocd scale rose line 10 points 💀 LOL I’ve been trying medication and it seems to be helping me with day to day and also recognizing ocd thoughts and stuff
@eelaaiinaa Yea I’ve been working with mine but it’s hard for me to do ERP intentionally lol it’s like if I try to be uncomfortable it doesn’t work so I’m trying to do it when I notice the natural intrusive thoughts but because of my recent breakup they are often sudden and feel overwhelming. I’m literally crying at work right now 😂 Gotta love it.
@Mando87 So real lol. You’ve got this! I’m not going to offer advice because I often find that annoying because I can feel totally debilitated from my intrusive thoughts. But I will say I didn’t think I’d get to a point where I was interested in hobbies again and over the last few days I’ve been wanting to do things for fun again. So it gets better!
@eelaaiinaa Omg moving in is HUGE!! Congrats!!!! But super valid that it made your ocd worse for a bit😭 how are you coping with the move? How long have you been living together now?
@Mando87 Aweee I’m sorry:( I know how you feel ERP can definitely be an adjustment and kind of strange to bring things up and them to feel the same as when they just come up but they rarely do. Maybe you need to do higher exposures🤣 (idk if that’s good advice don’t do anything too hard) I’m sorry about the breakup. Is the rocd mainly about you wanting to get back with them?
@FloW Wanting to get back, ruminating on what went wrong, but also learning there was a lot going on in the relationship too which is probably what made her feel so pressured and unable to stay. So it’s a big ugly mental mess in here right now haha. Fear is awful and so strong.
@FloW We’ve been living together for 2 1/2 months :) it was really hard at the beginning because I had so many confusing feelings and it felt really unfair to have a supportive partner taking care of me while I was having these thoughts. But it’s slowly getting better :)
@Mando87 I’ve been taking a lot of hot baths to regulate myself. I would do that!
@eelaaiinaa Wow that’s so great:) I’m so proud of you. Rocd will literally do anything to tear your relationship apart and taking a big step like moving makes it panic and be like ahhh noo you made a mistake. But you clearly didn’t and I’m so happy your partner is supportive that is really great. I struggle too with feeling like my ocd is unfair to my partner when they have been so kind but you have to realize that none of this is really what you are thinking or want to think and you are actively working on it. I think the more settled into living together the easier it will get and ocd will calm down
@FloW Well my OCD score went down three points since last month… so I’m celebrating that! Medication has been really a game changer for me as well.

You sound like me! I’m almost 23 and I have ROCD and I’m also in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend of one year (I get to see him on Friday!) Overall mine has been better lately too but I’m hoping it doesn’t throw anything new at me next week when we’re together. So good to know other people in similar situations. The ROCD/LDR combo is no joke
@Anonymous Omg!!!! Wow what a coincidence. Yes rocd is already so hard I dated my bf for about 8 months and then ended up moving back home and we’ve been long distance for about a year now. After I moved back my ocd got so horrible It was debilitating. But I am so much better now and every time we have visits I’m not a crying mess (or as much of one). So I know how you feel. Glad you are feeling a bit better lately. That’s so exciting you get to see him! Cherish the time you have together but also don’t be discouraged if ocd does come up because you are seeing him for the first time in a while and spending more time with him so more thoughts may come up but you can handle them!
25m who also deals with a lot of ROCD. It can be really debilitating but you’re making great progress by even starting therapy!
Hi! I’m 27F and have rocd. I am working with a NOCD therapist and started ERP about a month ago. I’m not taking any medication. Did you take any medications to help with your recovery? How did your Erp progress/timeline look like, did you notice any difference within the first few months? It would be great to have a support group specifically for rocd!
