Can someone in the furry fandom help me out please

TW: Feral NSFW, Zoophilia Ever since I realized that feral nsfw is used by zoophiles to infiltrate the fandom, I have been EXTREMELY scared and confused as to what is safe and what is not, and even then I stumble to figure out what to do and how to properly respond to content of this nature due to it being treated on a sliding scale in the fandom. Even to this day, I can’t figure out what is safe or not and that deeply terrifies me because 1. I care about the furry fandom. And 2. I don’t want to support animal abuse in any shape or form. But even this is hard to decipher because of how some creators I follow who are against zoophilia as well on BlueSky also follow people who draw quadrupedal characters and it makes things really blurry for me as it did back when I first discovered it. So please, if ANYBODY reading this is a furry who has had an experience like this, please tell me what exactly the rules are for this kind of thing so that I don’t make another mistake. I would really appreciate it.

I’m not part of the furry fandom so I can’t answer the specific community questions, but I can definitely understand why this feels so confusing and overwhelming for you. ❤️ It sounds like you really care about making choices that line up with your values, while also feeling like you need to know exactly where every line is drawn. I’ve struggled with that need for really clear rules with OCD too, and sometimes the hardest part is accepting that there might be gray areas where we have to use our best judgment without knowing with complete certainty that we got it right. I hope someone who understands the fandom can give you some perspective while also being mindful not to feed that need for absolute certainty. ❤️

(TW for the same subjects you mentioned) Wish I had seen this sooner and apologize for not doing so…I used to purposefully seek out suggestive material to do “background checks” on artists, and the exposure to such imagery led to more triggering episodes. For your own sake, I would not attempt to cross your moral boundaries to overstep when you know it is or isn’t safe for you, even if it is for “investigation.” As for the feral part (I do NOT support this kind of artwork), I personally would argue that anything that resembles a real, four-legged animal isn’t moral regardless of whether they can verbally consent and am with you on the matter and want to care about dignity and preserving safety in the fandom. It’s scary, because there are varying levels of anthropomorphism and sapience with fictional creatures; unfortunately, there’s no real consensus…it’s learning to sit with there not being concrete rules for this. I think there are other grey areas with things like SFW and “soft” fetishes (like pooltoys), things that aren’t necessarily explicit in nature but have become guilty by association, if you will. It’s just…not a black and white community at the end of the day. Just remember that you are in charge of your own boundaries and it’s your right to do whatever you need to feel safe and comfortable. I get that not having absolute certainty (especially for the neurodivergent brain) is terrifying (but that’s kind of the point and how we make progress!).I’ll be here for you if you need to chat further, wishing you the best of luck; you’ve got this!-♡
