I was exactly like this 3 weeks ago but right now I’m feeling quite good. It comes and goes but you’ve just got to take life minute by minute and remember that you’re tougher than OCD!

My OCD used to be terrible beyond words. I’m not exaggerating. Getting out of bed was terrifying— I dropped out of my college classes this and quit my job; it was an all-time low. I’m not going to lie, it was the darkest time of my life and although my OCD may not be all the way gone, I’ve certainly learned to manage. You eventually realize, “oh, I’ve gone this long without doing anything bad that I thought I was going to do... maybe I won’t do those horrible things!” (my case is harm OCD). Then you slowly begin to trust yourself to expose yourself to things you used to avoid/were terrified of!! I can honestly tell you that it DOES get better. Maybe not perfect, but much, much better. Suicide used to be an itch that I just couldn’t scratch. I wanted to soooo badly but I told myself that I would eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel, even if I didn’t believe myself at the time. Just please trust me when I say it WILL get easier. It simply takes time. This illness is a toughie and plays with your head a whole lot but you’ll learn how to fight back. There are so, so many people fighting alongside you even if OCD is much less talked about. I’m here whenever you need it! Don’t hesitate to go further in depth/write more comments/updates about how you’re doing in the future. I’d love to help :-)

Carrie. Did you learn any of the treatments like cbt or erp, that you found helped with ocd? I was diagnosed about 20 years ago, and for the past 6-7 years i have been pretty ok.

I worry that i wont get better. I worry what will happen in the future as ive pretty much tried all medications available for ocd. I worry that it will get worse as i get older. Im really finding it hard at the moment, i go see the doc again tomorrow, im not sure what she will suggest. I just want to be ok and live life.
