Minimizing
Today I had an ECHO done of my heart. I was not particularly nervous or anxious, but the position was uncomfortable and I was trying to relax. I kept taking deep breaths to try and relax. The tech said I had to stop breathing deeply and just breath normal as every time I took a big breath my lungs obscured my heart. Then she asked my if I was nervous. I said I have OCD and telling me not to do something is just only making me think of breathing deeply. Then she said “oh I’m a little OCD too.” In that one sentence she minimized my entire experience and struggle. The entire ECHO I felt like I couldn’t breath. On the plus side, I stayed and completed the test. Good exposure I guess.
