Hyperawareness OCD Question
I’m wanting to find a good balance between not giving my thoughts attention, but at the same time not pushing them away. Even though I don’t think I’m actively doing any ruminating, I often feel like I’m in a fog of just my obsessive thoughts, and it can make it hard to focus on other things. Sometimes when I feel this way I try really hard to focus on other things, which seems to take a lot of energy. In doing this do you think it’s difficult because it’s a compulsion (pushing the thought away), or is it difficult because I’m refraining from doing a compulsion by forcing myself to focus on something else? I’m happy to not do compulsions, but with mental ones it’s difficult to know what the compulsions even are. TIA!
