Game OCD
My OCD only gets triggered when I’m on a certain game. Should I just delete the game to get rid of my OCD? I mean I’ve already quit the game so I wouldn’t mind deleting it

A lot more information would be nice. Does it cause you anxiety to play it? Do you feel better/worse playing it or not playing it? I can get very OCD about playing games, but then if I don't play I also go into things like hair pulling. So, for me it's better to just play games as long as it isn't interfering with my daily life.
@zragon I feel better not playing it. Playing it caused me anxiety so I wanted to delete my account. Now that my account is deleted, I keep asking support agents to make sure that it can’t be recovered. Afterwards, it turned into symmetry OCD where if I asked one question on my phone, I also had to ask the same question on my iPad.
Just be careful because OCD has a tendency to change “themes”. So if you delete this game, you may see another OCD theme pop up somewhere else in life. I also believe that deleting the game would be considered “avoidance” which is harmful in OCD. I would definitely get more opinions though and do some research on avoidance!
@Girlwithocd99 but if I delete the game, my OCD won’t be triggered anymore. If my OCD theme shifts to a real life thing, it would be a lot easier to do ERP since I don’t know how to do ERP for a game
I’m not sure about deleting the game - if it would cause more harm than good. I did see above that you have symmetry compulsions- so what I will tell you is that if you have any intense urge to perform a compulsion to “relieve anxiety”- just do not perform the compulsion. Do not respond to that. The quieter you get, the quieter the thoughts get over time. You’ve got this friend. If you do end up deleting the game, i would recommend practicing not performing any compulsions that may come up in other areas of your life.
I want to beat OCD because I have seen and felt the benefits of clearing my brain from unnecessary, pointless, thoughts. OCD is like 0 calorie food. It’s pointless. No nutrition or benefits come from my obsessions or compulsions. I don’t care to have answers to everything anymore. I catch myself just trying to stress myself out so that I have some worry to feed on. But like I said, it’s a 0 calorie food. I get nothing from it but wasted time and energy. My brain feels more spacious when I’m not consumed by OCD. I’m present. My personality has room to be herself without making space for bullshit. I tell myself now that worry is poison. I think Willie Nelson was the person I got that quote from? Anyways, that imagery of worries being poison for the mind has been transformative for me. I’m evolving. 💖 Thanks NOCD community.
Having ocd that I’m gonna become this horror movie guy, how do I fix this lol it’s crazy
Ok so I just downloaded this app like two days ago because I was looking for a OCD specialist. Maybe this is just my opinion but the posting’s on this app can be super triggering. If feels like even sharing your experience on an app like this can contribute to fueling OCD. So many people I see reassurance seeking, confessing and posting the same things multiple times to gain certainty. Makes me wonder if this app is counterproductive to the point of OCD treatment. I’m guilty of spending hours scrolling through the post trying to find people who relate to me, but in the end it makes me more anxious and fuels my OCD. Idk what do you guys think.
