What was your first ever obsession?
I'd love to hear some of ur guys' stories. My first obsession happened when i was around 5 yrs old, when i was still in kindergarten. Idk how it started but i got obsessed with the concept of and the word 'hypnosis' itself, so much so that my parents and friends had to refer to it as 'the H word' or else i would have a panic attack (i didnt know it was a panic attack as a kid, i just remember feeling the room getting bigger and bigger, my chest cavity 'itching', being unable to breathe etc). When i was alone in my room i kept repeating the word 'hypnosis' until the anxiety went away, but it would always come back. It was the only thing i could think about for more than a year, maybe even 2-3 yrs. I would hoard any material i could find regarding hypnosis or anything that reminded me of it. Whenever i was confronted with anything hypnosis-related in public or in front of other ppl i'd freak out and think that everyone could see into my brain. It's so funny how as kids without any life experience our obsessions tend to be about vague concepts rather than things like death or harm or pedophilia or sexual orientation. My first real OCD theme was harm and that started at around 8-9 yrs old. Because of it, my parents put me in therapy when i turned 11 because they thought something was seriously wrong with me. They couldn't understand what, but i'm glad they took that initiative. What about you guys? When did it start and what was the first major obsession?
