Dealing with other people’s reactions
I recently downloaded this app in hopes of getting some advice and feeling less alone in my thoughts. Some backstory: my boss has OCD too, so I know that they understand a little bit, but my other two coworkers do not. Sometimes while I’m doing something that might be part of my compulsions one of my coworkers will laugh at me because “it’s not necessary and I’m making more work for myself.” I don’t feel close enough to this person to explain that I can’t complete a task without doing some things that might add additional work (and struggle with figuring out how to explain it even if I did feel like I could), but my one coworker’s reactions to some of the things I do have been bothering me a lot. Has anyone else experience these type of reactions to compulsions (being laughed at), and if so, is there anything I can do to not feel so upset by it? I’ve been trying to take small steps to improve, but still have a lot of things that I “have” to do even if other people don’t find them necessary.
