How does SOOCD affect your relationship?

I recently started liking this girl. She likes me and It feels amazing. I’ve been dealing with SOOCD for a while now and I was scared when I first fell for her because I knew how badly my OCD was. My OCD has flared up so much since and it tells me I don’t like this girl or that I rather be with a guy. A lot of what if questions as well. I would like to know for those in relationships and struggling with Sexual Orientation OCD, how has this affected your relationship. I don’t want to feel alone in all this. I’ve had many themes before this one and OCD is telling me it’s different this time.

I have a boyfriend that I’ve been with for 2.5 years and I had hocd for a year in about 2019 but it went and now it’s come back for the month and it’s been hard. Especially because I’m in a long term relationship with my boyfriend who I love so much and we r looking to move out and things. Having these thoughts make me feel so guilty and I worry so much that these thoughts r true or that it’s not hocd and it’s denial. But I have clarity moments where I know I’m straight and that it’s ovd attacking what is value most, my relationship but it doesn’t make it any less harder. Sometimes it feels so real

be open and honest with her. I have SOOCD as well. My boyfriend and I have been together going on 5 years. I didn’t get SOOCD until last year. It was very hard to explain to him that I have SOOCD and that my thoughts weren’t a reality. Sometimes he still does not quite understand but he knows that I have it and that I suffer from it and it took a lot of pressure off of me telling him that I have an OCD disorder. Since i’ve told him it makes me feel less guilty to have these thoughts without him knowing and it will help you to. Not only will you get it off of your chest- you’ll also have someone to talk to about it and it will help you in the long run. :) If you really like this girl and see yourself having a future with her just let her know and tell her that you are overcoming it :) If she really likes you back she will understand I promise you that! You got this! 💜

@123456789101112 I must confess, I asked her for reassurance she didn’t think I was gay, she said she never thought that and I know my therapist will give me a stern talking to you next week 😭 i couldn’t help it i was just making sure

@My OCD Academia I was the same way. constantly needed reassurance weather it was from someone or from an online source like questioners to see if I was gay. It did help short term but made it a lot worse long term because I was feeding the thoughts. I still struggle with the thoughts just not as bad and I know that they are just thoughts. Don’t give them any attention & they will get better :)

Undiagnosed SO OCD since childhood?

I'm starting to believe I have had SOOCD since childhood. I remember having thoughts since as early as 7 that felt bad and wrong and made me sad and worried. Thoughts of being bisexual or lesbian still make me so unhappy and uncomfortable, but they also feel so deeply ingrained in me that I have a hard time knowing what my sexuality is. I felt forced to accept the fact that I was bisexual when I was an adult, even though it made me sad, but is that even true? Is dealing with this since childhood really just denial? Am I just gay? Or is ALL of it a lie and I'm straight? Maybe I'm asexual, and am not attracted to anyone? I can't sort it out in my head, my heart is breaking- my wonderful fiance has been so careful and kind as I process what is going on. Now the idea of having sex or attraction to ANYONE of any gender makes me panic and cry. He is so patient, but he doesn't deserve this, he deserves better than my panic attacks and doubt. Has anyone else had a theme since childhood? How have you sorted what IS real from what is NOT real, now that you know you have OCD?

SO-OCD

struggling with this theme currently. i am worried that i am secretly a lesbian and i am just leading my boyfriend on because i like his attention. i don't think this is actually true as i do truly love my boyfriend, but i'm worried anyways. my ocd is making me question if my love for him is romantic or just platonic.

SOOCD

I am in the process of dating a guy. It just feels right with him and deep down I know the feelings are there - my brain now tells me all the time that I’m lying to him, I’m lying to myself, I’m not allowed to tell my friends about him because I’m one big liar. It also tells me that I actually like women and not men to the extent I’m believing all those thoughts. I just cried because it felt real so I did some mental compulsions to make sure it’s still him I have feelings for. It’s all one big downward spiral today… Does anyone experiencing SOOCD during a relationship? 🥲
