I want some answers - Intrusive images

I really hope this is my last post. I feel close to letting go. So here’s my story… One day I was stressed out on a bus imagining loads of existential questions. Then my mind flooded with imagery. The images would flash like movie scenes. I can’t remember if my eyes were open or closed. I can’t remember if they were normal images or if I could also see my environment around me blended with the scenes. Here’s an example I’m on a bus but I can see both the image as if it’s transparent and the bus around me I genuinely can’t remember what I was seeing and when Anyone else?

In sounds like you were in deeeeep thought. Sometimes, if im like that, I'll forget that I am driving, but that's it's a familiar route or my GPS is on, so my brain knows it can do it's own thing (yeah, not safe, I know). If you were having existential OCD, there is a lot of fear there and then your brain goes so far into fight or flight that it impedes your memory and understanding. I'm a high school teacher and we teach our kids that. Even when you are just nervous, it's impedes thing. The important thing to remember here is that your existential questioning is just that; fear. OCD is a liar and alerts chemicals in our brain, so it does weird things to try and protect ourselves. Remember that you are safe, your are where your feet are and it's a good place to be. Wondering are okay, but if they are scaring us, we need to talk back to them. When I catch myself I say "you're a LIAR!" To my OCD, but I've had a ton of therapy, so I'm on the other side. You will be too!

@lights5 I don’t think they’re hallucinations :) but they are VERY VIVID SCENES which sucks. They can feel in front of me: by this I mean, super immersive and I’m just freaked out I’m the only one. I’m also concerned they are a mix between a hallucination or mental image. They’re flashes of awful scenes. My biggest fear is being the only person in the world that does this - some advice would be appreciated and thanks so much

@ObsessivePenguin To be honest, I have had a couple friends who have had this, but I did meet them during my time in a psychiatric ward. I was there because I was in active alcoholism and i kept wording up in the hospital. It's been a long road to recovery, but rehab is what really helped me. My friends who have had this were both bipolar with schizophrenia affective disorder. Basically, once well controlled with medication, they could explain that what they saw was horrific and was real to THEM, at the time. But, at the time it happens it's very hard for them to tell if it is real or not some of them heard voices, some just images or a combo of both. Either way, there is help and a very wonderful and normal life to be had after receiving proper help. The good thing is, you are aware that they are false, but my love, you need to get in and see a psychiatrist and be evaluated. Never be ashamed of getting help and don't stop until you are free. It's not easy and I call 2021 my year of being "on tour" because I was in 3 rehabs and a psychiatrist ward and my life ended up better than I could ever have thought. I appreciate you sharing and I am here for you. ❤️

@lights5 I love this ❤️ thanks so much! For me it’s only happened a few times and that’s it. But my brain is like “you don’t have schizophrenia so you shouldn’t of been able to do it”

please read I need advice, or anyone going through this?

During ERP, we learn not to analyze thoughts, not to analyze feelings, obstacles, ideas, commands... because it's all an intrusion and not real. However, it's too difficult for me, because every time a picture comes out, it's all detailed and even with a sound in my head, or an urge, or an idea... to "leave" it like that and I don't come back... is that the case with anyone else? and does it ever pass? Thanks in advance

How do you get through your episodes?

Hi everyone I’m new here and well today was a very hard day for me… so a couple months ago out of no where my brain just went poof literally to not get so much into detail I experienced a lot of things but during that whole process I developed intrusive thoughts of hurting my self or others its been going on since December I knew someThing was off so I went for professional help Ive been working very hard in recovering now those intrusive thoughts aren’t the problem as much because I figured out what was the trigger (I think) but now it’s more obsessing over religion and spirituality and what’s real and what’s not and it makes me panic and creates panic attacks and just kind of makes my episodes a lot worst… so I would like to know if anyone has experienced this? How do get through it? How do you talk yourself out of it?

I feel like I'm losing my mind I can't trust it

I keep seeing coupled numbers or angel numbers and having dejvu and in my mind when I get constant Deja Vu which in my mind means something bad is about ti happen I have had it 6 times today 3 in the last hour and I honestly feel like I'm going insane whether its Deja Vu of the numbers it causes me to question every action I make. If I see the numbers or get Deja Vu it dictates my day and I can't live this way anymore. Everyone I try and talk to doesn't understand and there is no way I can ever tell anyone about my violent intrusive thoughts the one time I did my mother called the police. Sorry for the run-on sentences and if it doesn't flow right I'm just really struggling right now and have been for a long time and I just want help I'm scared of my own mind. Thank you for whoever answers this post just one person would sadly make my day.
