So I have an uncle who comes over sometimes and I started having thoughts of being attracted to him or something, this has happened before and it became a small obsession until I finally said I don’t care (I did) but it’s back again with my uncle and it feels so real and confusing, I feel so weird around my uncle now idk how to explain but I hate it so much I want to cry
It’s okay to think people are attractive, even if it is your family. That is such a high expectation of yourself…. I think my mum is beautiful, I think my dad is handsome, and I know in myself I don’t mean anything by it… I get it’s uncomfortable for you because it is a theme of yours, but sometimes thoughts just happen and not every thought means something, just accept that someone in your family is attractive, and that you know you don’t mean anything more by it :)
@SadUnicorn3 I think what also plays into it,is that certain things I find attractive in people, my brain starts taking those things and point it out whenever a family member has one of those traits as well.. and for some reason my brain sees a lot of traits w my uncle.. I love my uncle don’t get me wrong, but it’s scary and gross to think I LIKE him in anything other than a normal uncle way
@Yeye123 I think you resolved your problem with this post. You said it feels scary or gross. If you mentioned that you weren't scared and that you enjoy the feeling then it could really be real. OCD is the doubting disease. I hope this helps you.
I had this happen to me and it was a theme I went through that caused me to have severe mental breakdowns for days. I couldint be home around my brother because i read about someone having an ocd theme where they were scared of being attracted to a sibling and it made me remember an intrusive thought I had and it all started from there. Everytime I was around him or talking to him my brain would be like did I just feel attracted to him, I would have intrusive thoughts, i would confuse feelings of anxiety for feelings of being nervous or “butterflies”. You name it. But I did eventually get over this theme. A lot of my help was because I got on medicine. But what helped me is literally accepting it. Sometimes it pops back up but I just brush it off. It took me a while to get over it o thought my world was over. That I wasn’t a good person. Thought about how my mom would feel if she knew I was even thinking the things I was. I was in such a terrible spot. And I really thought it was real. Because ocd can make you think it is real. Don’t ever forget that. Now that I’m not worried about it I know it’s not true or real. Give yourself time to get away from the ocd before jumping to the conclusion that what your feeling is real. Calm down. Take a breath. And tell yourself to let it go for now. And watch how you don’t think about it when your not as worried about it.

If the thought makes you want to cry sounds like an ocd spike. Your mind is free to think anything, even that your uncle is attractive. The thought is nothing more than a thought, you are assigning a meaning to it.
How do you tell if it’s real attraction or ocd ? I feel so confused about attraction and sexual attraction ever done I been getting incest ocd . Part of me knows it’s ocd and the other part is low key scared it’s not. I don’t want to have attraction toward my brother or any family members. I just want this to stop. I keep praying to god that I go back to the Naja I used to be and I don’t think he’s listening. Please help .
So a couple of days ago I was reading through some posts on this app and came across someone talking about incest ocd. I was triggered almost immediately and have been having these thoughts about my brother and having imagery in my head about him (I saw his nudes when I was being nosey on his phone one time) and now can’t seem to get it out of my head. I just want these thoughts to end I feel so weird I can’t even be around him. Also, my anxiety isn’t even that high which makes it feel more real. I haven’t been anxious with a lot of ocd thoughts lately and apparently this is a sign I’m getting better because I can carry on with my day as usual. But it does feel more real and like I like the thoughts. Please help.
i’ve never had a thought like this before. i have the best relationship with my dad. but tonight a gross thought came up in my head. and instantly i was like um no. i didn’t get a sensation or any attraction or happiness from it. so i know i don’t like it. but for some reason my brain was telling me. “say this say this say this” as he was telling me goodnight and obviously i’m not gonna say it over the app but it just freaked me out. i didn’t say it and i didn’t want to at all but my mind and thoughts felt as if it were trying to force me too. now i can’t stop thinking about it and what would have happened if i said it. i feel so gross and weird and idk how to talk to anyone about it because my mom is very understanding and she understands this stuff very very well but it’s still an extremely hard concept to bring up to my mom. idk what to do:( i’m lost.
