Yes, it's why OCD is called the Doubting Disorder.
@Steven55! The urges are insane. So vivid and it’s like everything could be used as a weapon. I’ve never been violent in my life.
Neither have I been violent, but I'm recovering from harm OCD as well. The good news is it's treatable with a trained OCD therapist who uses ERP therapy.
@Steven55! I appreciate your kind words and wisdom. Is it normal for the anxiety to subside when the thoughts come? Like I don’t feel super anxious but my brain constantly keeps playing them over and over. The absence of physical anxiety worries me. But I’m also on medication.
@Cale Ivey I am not a trained OCD therapist but I believe what you are experiencing is a pure-o compulsion.
Everything you're going through is textbook OCD.
I've learned to try and stay in the present and in uncertainty through ERP therapy. NOCD has many fine, trained OCD therapists who can really change your life.
Question: you write that you're on meds, but are also seeing a trained OCD therapist, one who uses ERP therapy? Meds alone don't work we'll without talk therapy.
@Steven55! I am but just started barely a month ago. A pure o compulsion I would assume can be done unconscious correct?
@Cale Ivey It means it's a mental compulsion, instead of an external compulsion. It's going to take time and may get worse before it gets better, but if you're using the ERP tools you learn it WILL get better. BTW, if your therapist doesn't use ERP s/he may not be trained in OCD and you may want to find a trained one. NOCD has many good ones. It's where I found my therapist. Made all the difference.
Can harm ocd thoughts appear like “i want” or “im going to” someone please lmk if they experienced this 😣
(Trigger warning) So recently I’ve caught myself being more content with these thoughts…and due to the fact of me not freaking out is making me freak out because I also have this weird little birdy in my thoughts that just say “do it” I’m not sure if I’m the only one and I’m ofc scared of that but please tell me this is normal…I can’t even cuddle my boyfriend or anything right now.
Anybody else struggling with harm OCD?? Father here, mainly goes for my wife and son. It’s been very debilitating. Just started with nocd, anybody going through the same thing or has gotten better??
