You tell the psychiatrist that you are seeing an OCD specialist doing ERP therapy but your anxiety is extremely high and need a medication to settle down to be able to do the ERP. Did your therapist suggest a list of meds?

@Jay222 Based on all your reassurance seeking, not completely accurate. It settles you down so you can do exposures without huge spikes of anxiety and/or panic attacks.

It was actually my psychiatrist that was able to diagnose me with OCD. They’re very aware of the disorder and I’m sure they are with other disorders. But you don’t even have to say it’s POCD. If the psychiatrist asks how your OCD manifests, you could just say “intrusive thoughts” and that’s it. Your feel is real though, the fear of being misdiagnosed is what I’m scared of as I decide to go back into therapy. But, it is worth it to get the help I need even though I’m scared as I know it’ll benefit me in the long run.

It was worth it for me. My side effects are minimal but I’ve seen a 50% reduction in the worst of my OCD. It allows me to do therapy, ERP, face my fears, try to accept uncertainty (more), and function in my job and life. For the most part, I’m able to fake it to make it. In time, I’m hopeful that it will go away.
