Is it normal for suicidal thoughts to increase after starting fluoxetine?

Hello I am worried I've been taking fluoxetine for almost 3 weeks now I'm taking 2 pills of 20 mg every 24 hrs But my suicidal thoughts have increased and that's saying too much since death has always scared me Also I've been feeling a bit angry like impulsive I made the mistake of reading some people that has committed murder while taking Prozac and idk Maybe it's my ocd but I'm scared and sad I feel bad and alone I'm not sure if I should keep taking the medicine They say things get better with time but I'm not sure

It’s happened to me as well, it usually takes about 6 weeks to take full effect but the first few weeks can be horrible. Try to push through and get good sleep and eat well. This is my second time trying because the first time was also not a good experience for me but pushing through this time I’m glad I did.

@Wanderer99 Yes, when I first tried it I was super depressed so I didn’t continue. So I tried it again this time around and pushed through the bad side effects and in doing much better. Maybe push through another week or so and if you don’t feel good then stop. Everyone is different✨ but those feelings are common in the beginning.

this is also my first time taking the medicine also, it takes a while for it to get into your system, and i am also experiencing this. push through!!

I’ve switched meds a few times and when I started having suicidal ideation, my medication was switched to something else. Nothing wrong with reaching out to your doctor and letting them know of your symptoms/side effects. They are real and you are not crazy.

@Wanderer99 I didn’t sleep for a few days and it made my symptoms much worse. I switched to another med and didn’t really have any issues at all.

Hello, anyone have experience with Prozac? I’m on 20 right now, was started on 10 initially, very uncomfortable and anxious. I know I’ll need to up it but also need to give it some time, only been on it a few weeks. Anyone find that it really helped them and at what dose seemed to be best. My ocd is intrusive/ distressing thoughts. Thank you

Increased Prozac dose from 20mg to 40mg

So I upped my Prozac dose to 40mg 4 days ago and the anxiety I’m feeling is HORRIFIC. The physical symptoms are horrible it’s like I can’t relax or try and calm down no matter what I do. Is this normal?? I’m going through a really bad ocd episode at the moment and the thoughts seem a little less scary in part thanks to ERP but I have such horrific anxiety right now I don’t even know what I’m anxious about anymore and it’s stressing me out.

About fluoxetine

Hello I've been on fluoxetine for 3 weeks now The first two weeks my intrusive thoughts got much much worse Almost to an unbearable point Now I feel restless legs and hands Also my sleep hasn't been so bad since I've been taking alprazolam but still I wake up some times at night I'm taking 40 mg a day Should I be worried?? I was reading about some real crazy side effects and bad stuff that just made me fell worse And right now I'm not sure I'm really in danger or it's just my ocd attacking me I don't wanna develop akathisia And I've been feeling some uneasiness in my limbs but not to that point I think
