I have a ocd wear I have to wash my hands before using the restroom. I was in a rush. Not to be tmi but I was praying and had a urine leak in my pants. My child also come up to hug me and my wife was calling for me so i ended my prayer. Hugged my child. Ran into the bathroom. Didnt wash my hands. Just washed my private area and kept it moving. But i worry i wiped myself without washing my hands after i hugged my kid
that’s ok! we share germs amongst our family. It’s not that different from sharing the same toilet. Also children are not very hygienic. Your child has probably held hands with a friend who forgot to wash their hand or picked their nose. I would try not to worry about it too much. I know that’s really hard as someone with ocd. but that’s the cool thing about the community is that we can help people with different obsessions than our think rationally and vice versa.
@Anonymous You know of course my ocd freaks out and thinks this is inappropriate. Or its like they touched my body since i hugged them and touched my body when wiping. I believe its an irrational ocd thiught but thats what my wind is wired to thinking and worrying. So in this case since i hugged them and then went restroom without washing my hands my ocd says its the same as them touching my private areas which of course is not true. And ocd makes me think what if my intentions were bad and thats why i didnt wash before but i dont think so. I was just jn a rush and i just got done praying.
@Anonynmous19 Don’t worry I’m the same way with different obsessions. It’s very hard to give yourself some grace but you deserve it. OCD makes us doubt our intentions all the time. I struggled a lot with religious OCD as a child. Thinking I did bad things on purpose when actuality it was just an accident. I would beg for forgiveness but we are human. We make mistakes.

I also have contamination OCD and feel very bad when I touch something if I forget to wash my hands but to be honest like every time (this may be an exposure so letting you know in case you don’t want to be triggered you can stop reading now) every time you flush your toilet, poop particles get everywhere so like we are walking around with poop particles practically all over us but can’t see. This is why I keep my toothbrush out of the bathroom lol
@Audrey/33 Thats so true. Its gross! Im not triggered thank you. It happened to me again this morning but like you said i guess its a form of exposure snd erp without me knowing it. I didnt wash my hands before the restroom but i did of course afterwards. My worry usually is touching things without washing my hands especially touching my own body
@Anonynmous19 It’s totally understandable because we were taught at a very early age to wash our hands so like if we don’t wash them and touch things, it feels weird and that we are making it dirty or something.

Hi guys! I've turned to you before but a new situation occured today and I want to understand my response. Like I said I have OCD harm and it is surrounded about my children and my residents I take care of, whom I love with my whole heart. My youngest son is very physical and always on top of me. Because of my disease it drives me up the wall! I feel so bad but it really freaks me out. Long story short he was on me today. Hand wrapped around him. I had an intrusive thought " what if I did something no one would know" it scared me and I pushed through but my nerves were so bad I ended up pushing some part of my hand on his arm. I was rushed with guilt. I'm also fighting strep and just feel so guilty.
Earlier I was playing with my 1 year old baby. I went to go lower him to the ground and I hoisted his legs up to a hand stand (again just playing, he had fun with this) anyway after the hand stand, I went to lower his legs back to the ground. As I was lowering him, I noticed his “front area” coming down toward my foot. I acknowledged that his front area was heading straight for my foot and quickly in my head was like “eh whatever just do it” and so his front area landed on my foot and then I jerked my foot away once he landed on it. I’m shaking typing this, I feel I’ve done something horribly wrong and may have violated him 😭 this whole incident happened so fast. I wasn’t able to fully process my actions to tell my self “no that’s wrong, move your foot!” And now I feel TERRIBLE. I’m spiraling. The terrible thought of “your doing this because you like it and you know you would like it” did not cross my mind when I told my self to just let his area land on my foot. So I don’t think I did it purposely for ill intent? I would never want to hurt my child but ocd makes it feel so real
Its a very anxious night for me as a parent. I went to tuck my child in and i worried with groinal responses i still hugged my child goodnight than worried did i brush up or lean toward them inappropriately and then she was sad i was leaving. I wanted another hug so i hugged her again and ocd tried saying i had bad intent. Its so exhausting fighting ocd as a parent in distress
