Faith

I’ve noticed an overwhelming amount (in a good way!) of believers on this community and I had no idea I would come across so many faith filled sisters and brothers in Christ. I have followed some of you for hope and encouragement but if you come across my post and you’re a Christian I’d love to give each other a follow ❤️ maybe I can share encouragement everyday as well. Thank you guys for being brave and giving me the courage to express my faith. I’ve been really struggling with ERP as a Christian but I almost feel like all the times I’ve done mediation with the Lord that in an way that was an exposure because I was allowing the Lord to confront things with me. I think I’m struggling with not wanting scripture to be a “compulsion”. If we say things like “I may or may not” but then speak scripture over our lives. And I said like actually … no I am the head and not the tail. Hope this makes sense.

Hi! I just joined the app and I am a Christian as well. I have struggled with debilitating intrusive thoughts about a variety of things for years and have recently learned that it's OCD. I am hoping this community can help as I have felt so alone and ashamed of my thoughts and struggles considering I am a Christian, and am learning to accept that God does not condemn me for them. God Bless you in your journey, I know He will give you strength!

Remember you are more than your thoughts and God more than anyone understands our struggles with OCD. Our faith in Christ is what gives us the strength to face the uncertainty with ERP. Therapy not taking medication doesn't decrease our faith as God wants us to get better and most importantly use the community he has given us to talk about our struggles. Always remember you are more than enough and God through Christ's sacrifice forgives us and our unwanted thoughts. Hoping all of you find peace and comfort through your recovery journey.

It is so nice to hear that I'm not alone in my situation. I'm Christian as well, I attend small community and sometimes it is so hard to hide my OCD. I would like to tell them about it but I feel like some people might not accept this all the way. I struggle with this very much as I always feel as if I'm hiding a shameful secret... I also struggle to find Christian therapist ( I live in Poland). I would love to start therapy to help myself but I feel ignored by every Christian therapist I tried to reach out to and it is a real struggle for me. I kind of lost hope that I will ever find someone. Sending love and hopes for the better future in our Lord Jesus Christ ❤️❤️

@Patrycja I just gave you a follow ! I’m praying for you sister. The biggest thing I heard throughout this journey is to seek the healer not the healing. If you can’t find the proper resources I am a firm believer God will meet you right where you’re at. Even though I am in support groups and have a therapist through NOCD - I still have to remember Jesus is the answer above ALL ELSE.

@Swift19!89! That's right! Even though for last few days I wasn't doing so well because of some triggers that happened I know that God had helped me through the dark times few months back and I was feeling whole lot better. Now as well when I pray for peace and courage, I'm being restored with that. God is the greatest provider but it is kind of easy to forget about that when you're in the midst of crisis.

Christians with OCD

Hi friends, To my fellow christian’s who struggle with OCD. Can you share what you notice to be compulsions for you mentally/physically when it comes to faith? I’m struggling to differentiate what is me and my faith and what is me and the OCD. I don’t have a therapist so just would love some advice. EXAMPLES Iv noticed in myself I think are apart of the OCD: - obsessing over reading the Bible first thing, needing to keep my Bible streak and feeling guilty if I don’t -repeating certain prayers that I think I need to pray to be safe -mentally checking that I still feel connected to God throughout the day

Faith in the battle

I'm a Christian, my faith is very important to me. I have a small men's group I have been meeting with for almost two years. We communicate on GroupMe. I mention my need for OCD treatment and I can almost hear their gasps. Very disheartening how judgemental people can be all over the place. Like we're making this stuff up. Like if I was a "real believer" I wouldn't need this. Anyone experience this?
