Did you ever lay down for bed at night and you’re still partially awake but start to fall asleep and dream and you dream that you say or do something horrible and it wakes you back up? This happened to me last night. It was very upsetting. It’s not something I would ever say or do so why did I dream that? How do we dream when we aren’t fully asleep yet?
Yes!! It’s horrible and very upsetting. I also get it as I’m waking up (half awake, half asleep). It’s called hypnagogic and hypnopopmpic hallucinations and is quite normal (don’t worry about the term hallucination- it has nothing to do with psychosis or schizophrenia). I think I’ve always had them but barely notice them normally- just atm because my OCD is incessant I am, not surprisingly, having it in my dreams too.
Yes I've absolutely had this! It makes me stressed sometimes but it is normal. For me I often get strings of random words, sometimes relating to my OCD fears which sucks! Sending love, you're not alone, and you'll come to understand that it's normal
I’m o.o Okay. So if y’all have followed my posts, you might know I have this weird form of harm ocd consisting of slurs of any kind. So, I was asleep right. And reminder: I’m on prozac and from what I’ve seen vivid dreams are a side effect I think. So, I’m asleep. But then I remember thinking those thoughts almost intentionally but when I tried to stop them they came out at rapid fire. I woke up from that sleep cycle and figured that that was probably because my intrusive thoughts repeating while I’m sleeping was common for me. Except, this happened again right before waking up. And I was frightened, not by the slur itself, but by this fear that I intentionally thought that. After some rumination I’m almost sure that this was both dreams but I seriously don’t know, and if it turns out it was actually Me thinking that I’m gonna feel fucking terrible. Tl;dr idk if I intentionally thought an intrusive thought and at this point I’m too afraid to ask
Anyone’s OCD ever follow them into their dreams when they’re sleeping? I had this happen recently.
So last night I had a dream that had a harm thought in it about hurting my cat and I had a reaction. Like you know how people sleep walk well I woke up to me swinging my arm over trying to grab her. I woke up and was like :0 and then went back to bed not really caring just was like that is an interesting thought. When I sung my arm over though she was walking past me. Now I’m convinced I was trying to act out my thought and I wanted it and that makes me so horrible. Has anyone had this?!?
