Does anyone else brain convince them that there gonna commit the act of there intrusive thought ? Like I’m scared that I’ll actually do it .. Litterally had the intrusive thought about doing something and my brain made me think that I was actually gonna do it
Yes. That’s a normal feature of OCD.
@Andrei 9000 So it’s normal because like my brain pictured me hurting my loved one when they got home and my brain made me think I was actually gonna do it .. I been searching for a good half hour now trying to find comfort because idk if that’s normal or ocd .. like why would I even think about actually doing it feeling like I’d lose control and actually do it .. like right now I feel like I’m not even explaining it right just scared that I’ll actually do it basically
@iamken OCD can cause misfirings that make you think you are in danger of doing something bad. In reality you are fine, but your brain is convincing you otherwise. It’s scary and frightening, but recognise that it ultimately means nothing. I have to tell myself that the thoughts are silly.

@iamken This is classic OCD. OCD will take the things you care about the most and conjure up horrible scenarios. OCD is a bully trying to find ways to mess with you. You are not your thoughts. Just because you had a thought does not mean it’s something you want to do or should define who you are. Your brain might try to convince you otherwise, but if I had to guess you are in a heightened state of anxiety. When I am in a heightened state of anxiety I have the same thoughts you have. And yes they can be extremely distressing, but wouldn’t it be more concerning if you were not so distressed?
@stolz Yes but that’s the thing people say not to care about them so I try not too because I rather just not pay attention to them because sometimes I have breakdowns or actually start to gag .. like it felt so real and made me feel like I was actually gonna hurt someone it’s still bothering me and in my head now then my brain makes me think “well is it really bothering u?” The thought in all was “when she walks thru the door ur gonna hurt her”, *pictures it* try’s to ignore it doesn’t work then it basically made me then think I was gonna do the act like made me feel like I was actually gonna do it so it scared me so I came on here to try and find people who can relate .. but now I’m just thinking to myself “do I wanna do that” and ofc I don’t but my brains tryna make me think I want too my head is being f**cked with

I can promise you that it’s just OCD. That’s why you are on the forum trying to grapple with these troubling thoughts. You are having such a visceral reaction to your thoughts because they don’t align with who you are.
@stolz Thank u .. but for some reason I can’t find comfort :( like I’m still over thinking about it .. and I vividly told u what the thought was and it’s making me think I described it wrong and it’s not the full story but it is it just really made me feel like I was gonna do something bad

@iamken That is a great question. I’m going to reframe your question and I think it might help you. Does your OCD make you ever have the thought “I wanna do that or do I not.” It’s your OCD it’s not you! My biggest piece of advice is to externalize your OCD from you. Think of it as a tiny bully that lives on your shoulder.
@stolz Ur completely right ..!! so if I try not to care and can pass by the thought that doesn’t make me a bad person and I’m so sorry with all these question I know it’s annoying
@iamken This is what I say to myself in these scenarios. I am having a thought about X It is making me feel X This is my OCD Anytime a distressing thought pops up I do this exercise. You will find that if you practice it enough when you have an intrusive thought the second thought you have will be: I am having a thought about X It is making me feel X This is my OCD There is great comfort when this happens.

I’ve had many types of OCD, but I gained control over them over the years, but a new one has started to arise. Do y’all ever have scary thoughts about something you might do? Recently I’ll get extremely uncomfortable no matter where I am because I can’t stop thinking about “what if I screamed really loud in my lecture class tomorrow?” And other stupid stuff like that. Also, this one is kind of funny, but sometimes when I use the bathroom I pause before because I think “what if I’m actually in class right now?” I also cannot control the thoughts about past embarrassing moments. I know everyone does, but I will become visibly uncomfortable and harp on something from years ago. This happens all throughout the day. Also, does anyone else do things that resemble tics when you get these thoughts. Like when they happen I’ll curse under my breath or like jerk my head a little bit. When I’m in public I keep it low key but when I’m alone sometimes I’ll physically get up and pace or something when those thoughts happen. Just curious if anyone has had these experiences
Hey so a couple months ago (7-8) I remember being upset at my family member. Like she was talking too much while I was annoyed and remember wanting her to be quiet. I got an intrusive thought like a really bad image of doing something really bad to her, and my hand twitched to the side a little? Like it felt like I was about to?! And I remembered thinking "if I do this, I'll get in trouble". I got up and left to the bathroom and felt horrified! I was thinking "did I want to act out? Did the only reason I didn't act out was because of getting in trouble? If there was no consequences, would have I done it?! Does this mean this whole time I've been using OCD as an excuse?" I remember I couldn't sleep for 3 nights because of how bad the anxiety was, I was crying and I felt very guilty like I should turn myself in to a mental hospital. I couldn't eat for many days or be near her because of that thought and twitch I had! I'm worried it was an impulse or I actually wanted to hurt her. And even to this day I still ruminanate about this. Like last night I couldn't sleep well I kept waking up every two hours and asking myself "am I capable?" I couldn't eat last night. Sometimes I move on from it like I forget that happened but when I remember, I feel distressed about it! I don't want to be an evil person or do bad actions towards anyone! I'm even scared to be angry because of this because I'm scared I have more "chance" of acting out due to anger. Like was it an impulse and I held back? Is this even OCD? Please help, I'm really scared!
I am extremely afraid to get pregnant because of these can anyone please help me. I have OCD, and it involves thought-action fusion. Because of my OCD, I struggle to logically understand how thoughts could turn into actions.What is meant by thoughts are thoughts only. I feel like my thoughts might turn into actions just because I think them in detail ( ex if i think something bad with detaily who meet accident then it will happen to my family also )Can thoughts really turn into actions if I think about them deeply? Can anyone please help me 🙏🙏😭
