Addiction recovery...
Does anyone have experience of being in recovery from addiction and being around people that don't get it and they keep offering you drugs? It sets my anxiety off a lot and I start feeling overwhelmed. Just good coping strategies will do.
I am in recovery from addiction. If I set a boundary with someone and they do not respect it, then ultimately I realize they do not respect me. Therefore, I have to separate myself from this person. If I were to pick up a drink or a drug, it would ruin my life or I would die. People that "don't get it" or aren't being respectful of my recovery are not worth my time. I would separate yourself immediately. I do not risk my sobriety for anyone or anything.
This is very much my usual way of thinking now. I leave this hostel in one week.
I can tell you that from my experience, and it doesn't make it any easier when you hang around people who don't understand the transformation you're attempting to achieve. Sometimes, when this happens, you have to know that you have more wisdom within you than some of your friends that you hang around with. If you attempt to change something about yourself, your environment should be the first consideration. If you don't want to be sick, you must move away from what's causing you. Friends who are constantly offering something that they know you no longer wish to partake in are people attempting to keep you in the same place they are. Misery loves company.
I leave here in just over a week. I think they want to get the white guy high so he buys the drugs. It is the oldest trick in the book.

Is there anyone in here who is in recovery from alcohol and/or drugs?
Hi all! I did 2 months of intense ERP and I have felt great for the past few weeks. Not anxious at all really anymore and the thoughts have reduced/don’t bother me. I feel so happy and free again. So now, I am asking for those in recovery —- how do you make sure you stay well and don’t relapse? Any tips? Thanks! 😊
Not sure if it’s allowed here but what lifestyle choices (diet etc) books and lifestyle choices in combination with erp worked for you :) would love to hear from those on the other side
