Does anyone have experience of being in recovery from addiction and being around people that don't get it and they keep offering you drugs? It sets my anxiety off a lot and I start feeling overwhelmed. Just good coping strategies will do.
I am in recovery from addiction. If I set a boundary with someone and they do not respect it, then ultimately I realize they do not respect me. Therefore, I have to separate myself from this person. If I were to pick up a drink or a drug, it would ruin my life or I would die. People that "don't get it" or aren't being respectful of my recovery are not worth my time. I would separate yourself immediately. I do not risk my sobriety for anyone or anything.
This is very much my usual way of thinking now. I leave this hostel in one week.
I can tell you that from my experience, and it doesn't make it any easier when you hang around people who don't understand the transformation you're attempting to achieve. Sometimes, when this happens, you have to know that you have more wisdom within you than some of your friends that you hang around with. If you attempt to change something about yourself, your environment should be the first consideration. If you don't want to be sick, you must move away from what's causing you. Friends who are constantly offering something that they know you no longer wish to partake in are people attempting to keep you in the same place they are. Misery loves company.
I leave here in just over a week. I think they want to get the white guy high so he buys the drugs. It is the oldest trick in the book.

Can anyone who has recovered, or is beginning to recover, describe that experience for themselves? I feel like a lot of us are just living by waiting for the next time we’re gonna be triggered and that’s no way to live. Thanks❤️☺️
Is there anyone in here who is in recovery from alcohol and/or drugs?
Those of you in recovery.. what does it look like? How often do you have flare ups? I went through therapy here for about 6 months, I’m on medication. I just feel like I’m stuck in such a cycle of feeling normal-ish for 2-3 weeks then feeling bad for a couple of weeks. Woke up this morning and am feeling super anxious for no reason. 😭
