Hi!! Just wondering if anyone uses any type of medication to soothe their anxiety relating to ocd and if there is actually any medication that can do that. I’m thinking about going to the doctors to ask if I can get some because I’ve suffered with anxiety my whole life and it’s been two years of full hell from ocd and I’ve been in therapy (camhs) for three years. Lmk!❤️
Prozac 20mg has helped me a little bit but I’ve heard a lot of people say they need 60mg to really feel truly OCD free. Sometimes I take propanolol too if I’m struggling with physical effects of anxiety.

I take aripriprazol 5mg (its an antipsychotic that can be used for treatment of ocd) and to be honest it helps nothing
@Delirium You might wanna consider upping the dose. Are you also on an SSRI? Because that medication enhances the SSRIs without you needing to take more medication-I’m on a high dose of prozac and when it wasn’t helping I was prescribed Aripiprazole and I started with 2mg and went up to 4mg because it wasn’t helping.
@krjb2 I was on SSRI(paroxetine 15mg) but my psychiatrist told me to stop taking these since they were only making me worse. Also Im no longer under the care of any professionalist and I have only like 4 pills left so I cannot really do much
@Delirium Oh no! That’s not good you might think about seeing one again and trying a different type of SSRI.
@krjb2 I would love to but Im a minor and my father got into fight with people in reception in the clinic I was going to and its embarrassing to go back there(its the only clinic with psychiatrists for kids-teenagers in my city)
@Delirium There’s always the option to switch though it’s not the easiest thing to do. But another way to look at it is how bad do you think your OCD is. Is it worth feeling embarrassed to not have all the horrible thoughts and compulsions.
I take Lexapro 20mg and it has helped me a lot with the physical symptoms of anxiety from my OCD and some of the mental anxiety too. I also take 1 mg clonazepam or 25 mg of seroquel when it gets overwhelming. The pills haven’t truly taken away all the intrusive thoughts but it’s gotten better. Therapy and ERP has helped me calmed down my intrusive thoughts. Hope that helps😊

Yes, some antidepressants help OCD symptoms. I take prozac 20mg and it helps me not react as harshly to OCD thoughts and urges.

@meganl33 My only side effect is my orgasms are not as intense anymore (which kinda sucks because I'm suffering from SOOCD lol) but I never had any of the other side effects like nausea or severe depression. But everyone reacts differently to different medications. You'll be closely monitored if you decide to start a medication and they'll start you off low.
I used 25mg of Zoloft, and 30mg of buspare and they have both really helped. Someone mentioned that my dosage of Zoloft is low to help with OCD, but I have been feeling some relief and I have been feeling like myself again on some days.
Hiii - hope everyone is having a good day! Has anyone found any type of medication or supplements helpful with thinking sooo deeply about everything and intrusive thoughts? I’m in therapy + doing erp but my brain in this relapse of ocd just thinks sooo deep into my brain and i can’t seem to not to do it pull myself out. Like I’m just paranoid. An example would be if i simply look at my arm I’ll think so deeply about it like what’s under my arm what’s it look like inside etc. but if anyone not in this cycle looks at their arm they’ll be like hmm ok cool my arm and move on w their day. Just looking to see if anyone has had a similar experience of what I’m feeling rn.
I understand that everyone is different but lately I have been debating on medication just because of past experiences but does anyone have any good experiences with medication that has helped them with their OCD as well as therapy or treatment? As of now I’m dealing with it by myself but it feels like it may be getting worse
Hey what’s up y’all Does anyone else have generalized anxiety along with OCD and is taking a low dose medication? I wanted to try something I’m not big on meidcation but it’s getting to a point that it’s really affecting my day to day even though I’ve been dealing with it for years and years
