Old school med, it is an ocd focused med. TMS can sound extreme or even barbaric but it’s not at all. It’s noninvasive and no real side effects except for the first couple days. I love it, it worked better for me than any medication I ever took

Alexia, I am resistant to SSRI’s and therefore went the TMS route. I just finished my 30 sessions. I am going through ERP therapy concurrently, and have been taking some meds and supplements for anxiety, but nothing OCD specific. All of that to say that I think the combination of those things has made a huge difference in my life. My OCD symptoms are significantly better, and I deal with mine jumping from theme to theme like you. Everything is much quieter now. And when thoughts do pop in, they are a lot easier to process the right way. While I am doing a lot of things concurrently, I credit the TMS with being a major contributor to my recovery. And like @Raven mentioned, no side effects other than maybe some headaches at the beginning. I am not a therapist or psychiatrist, but I would definitely recommend it. Alexia, you don't mention if you're also in talk therapy with a trained OCD therapist who uses ERP therapy, the gold standard for OCD treatment. Meds have a limited effect without it. Most psychiatrists are not trained to work effectively with an OCD patient. OCD is a peculiar disorder and therapists have to be specially trained in ERP to be any help. If sounds like your situation, I strongly recommend you seek specialized OCD therapy with someone who really knows ERP. I speak from experience. You can still be on meds, but you'll find that they complement your talk therapy. NOCD can fix you up with a really good therapist. It's what I did, and it changed my life.
