are you on meds? ive been struggling with ocd for about 4 months since this spiral started and have been prescribed Luvox already for a month and i worked my way to 200 but still feel pretty anxious ngl, i have considered my hormones may also play into it since i get my worse spirals on the week of my cycle so maybe i should consider also a form of birth control? let me know what you guys are on or if youre also on birth control and how that helps

Thanks for sharing Purple , can I ask how long you had symptoms prior to your diagnosis. I’m trying to get an appointment, but the overwhelming despair of fighting this thing in the last few months has been a lot, and wondering how quickly ssris are prescribed …

@ldow i know you had asked purple but generally when getting help your primary doctor will prescribe something commonly to help i was on originally on lexapro prior to my diagnosis then with it and not seeing much help on lexapro they switched me over to luvox

@ldow I’m sorry you’ve been having a hard time! It’s hard to advocate for yourself when your brain is already working overtime. ☹️ I’ve had symptoms since I was little but never really felt like it was enough to seek help but everything has gotten worse and more prominent in the past two years due to some resurfacing trauma. I didn’t talk to my primary care doctor because I feel like she doesn’t really listen to me much haha so instead I signed up for Lavender Psychiatry and started seeing a psychiatrist online through there! I booked an appointment about a week out and then I met with a psychiatrist for an initial meeting and then she wanted to meet again the next week to do an OCD assessment based on some of the things I told her I’d been experiencing and then we met again the week after to discuss results. So it took about three weeks to get an official diagnosis and with that she prescribed me Sertraline! And she set me up with therapy on here. I would highly recommend Lavender! I hope you can find the support you’re looking for! ❤️

I just got diagnosed and am early into taking meds but I started on Sertraline and I really like it so far! It’s made me feel more chill and things seem less overwhelming so I would recommend. 🙂 I’m not on birth control so I can’t speak to that aspect. I hope you find what works for you! 💕

@PurpleHeather39 i have heard that a lot of people with ocd are on setraline! glad it’s working for you i may look into it and try to speak with my doctor while on luvox i feel okay but i still just feel little to not very much better

@goofy goober I'm on clomipramine 25 and fluoxetine 100... no birth control although it something I took couple of years ago and it made me worse

Finally! I have horrible spirals the week before my cycle as well I was starting to think I was weird for thinking this was related, glad to see I have some company lol I can’t get any actual advice past the camaraderie, Ive tried two ssris and each time it was extremely counterproductive (extremely.)

@clomoney it’s awful like I swear It gets to the point where intrusive thoughts are more harsh and longer lasting I feel you! My psychiatrist recommended I go speak to a ob about possibly hormone support (supplements or birth control) to see if I can get further regulation regarding it! I have another week until my appt but still!

I’m on 200mg of Zoloft, it helps, but it’s still there. I can describe it feeling more like a sore toe lol, after I got up to 200mg, it’s not really noticeable, but every now and then you are reminded you stubbed your toe. I have an IUD (not the copper one). I was going to talk with my psychiatrist about maybe transitioning to something else because I just don’t feel fully confident in it. I’ve been taking it for about 8 months now.

@__OCD that’s a good way to put it LOL! If you don’t mind me asking did u get on birth control prior or after getting on Zoloft?
