J289I I read something about ocd the other day that ocd is constantly trying to tell us to take action or do something when in fact we don’t need to do anything. I think that’s part of it. That urge to confess to make things right to be perfectly honest and like a 100% good person- all ocd

I wonder why this happens? I will feel like I need to confess something that didn't bother me for a long time. Maybe it is the OCD that requires us to get rid of any unwanted feelings?

Definitely! When I first started work as a nurse I felt like I had to be 100% honest all the time. It’s my policy as a Christian anyway but I felt like I constantly felt guilty even if lied accidently or documented something not entirely truthful. I eventually learned to let it go! Guilt is a huge part of ocd tho. I still feel guilty all the time about my thoughts/ false memories

I definitely see that, as you said ocd wants us to take action to feel better. Whether that's confessing, googling for hours, asking for reassurance. No matter what theme I see how OCD constantly pushes us to solve unpleasant feelings or uncertainties. I'm going to work on letting things go as well

I completely relate velvet, it feels like I have to have a completely clean conscience and have nothing that will bother my mind or cause me guilt or anxiety. So I need to confess things.

That could be considered a compulsion, I've been told we just have to live with the guilt in order to stop the feelings from reoccurring

I agree j289I ocd wands to search when in fact our search is futile. We only go around in circles. Acceptance is the way forward :) Oh but so much easier said than than done

For me OCD is that I have to be perfect and if something isn't right in my mind and it is fine in reality then I have to change

Usually it depends ,, maybe telling the truth or for example if I litter I’ll pick it back up. I try avoiding the little things but usually if I do lie a little I try to reassure myself but if it really hurts down to it I do eventually tell the truth
