ADHD & OCD?

Does anyone else have a combination of ADHD and OCD? If so, please let me know if you have unique experiences with the combination. I know it’s rare. I’m only diagnosed officially with ADHD but I’m pretty sure I have a mild form of OCD as well. Sometimes I think my OCD expresses itself as overcompensating for my ADHD forgetfulness , and I can’t always tell if I have obsessions or hyper-focusing and what the difference is between the two. Because whatever it is seems to waste lots of time and causes me a lot of anxiety.

Theres a lot of conditions that mimic each other. I found in my own life that putting a label on it doesn’t make it go away. Talk to a professional about what you’re experiencing and they can guide you to what the best treatment options are.

Omg this. I have felt the same way about my OCD just being a compensation for my ADHD symptoms, attempting to regiment and structure every aspect of my day to not forget anything or to have things “in order.” I constantly am questioning whether I actually have one or the other diagnoses, it feels like imposter syndrome wearing two conflicting titles. My main struggle tends to be getting started on my work and it is worse in periods of stress. Sometimes I am told this is ADHD procrastination, and other times I am told it is an avoidance compulsion. I think it is extra hard to know the difference when the OCD symptoms do not present in an obvious way, or are more mild in nature.

Hello , I’m diagnosed with OCD as well as ADD and anxiety and short term memory issues . It’s so much sometimes, I don’t even like going out in public because being around people gives me me anxiety, if I see something out of place wherever I go I have to fix it because it will bother me . I never pick the first thing g from the shelves at the grocery store I will literally reach for the third one from the back . Sometimes I feel crazy and no one understands me . Just want to feel like everyone else .

OCD and ADHD

I was wondering if anyone else has ocd and adhd. The two are so difficult to treat together medication wise. Stimulants often flare up ocd and anxiety and ssri’s do nothing for my adhd. I feel even more off task while on an ssri. So the result now is I’m unmedicated and in therapy once a week which isn’t enough for me. Does anyone else have this same diagnosis and if so what works for you?
