looking for someone to chat with maybe?
I’m available if you’re interested 😊
apologies for the late reply, i appreciate it! how are you? :)
@2K1spaceodyssey No need to apologize! I’ve honestly been better, but I’m used to the lows of OCD at this point. How about you? Is there anything in particular you’d like to talk about?
@Jay Wright my sleep schedule's been very off but i'm just kinda hanging in there. i guess i just want to talk about managing intrusive thoughts or something, unless if you want to talk about something else less heavy-
@2K1spaceodyssey I’m sorry you’ve been struggling with your sleep schedule. I know the struggle. Really struggled with that just last month. But I hope you’ll be able to get it back to normal. Also I’d be more than happy to talk about that. I’ve been struggling with intrusive thoughts a lot more lately than normal and it’s been a really isolating journey bc a lot of people just don’t understand how debilitating it is, but what’s been helping me lately is really working on not giving the thoughts power and not hyper-fixating on it (which feels impossible a lot of days). It’s so important to hold on to the values about myself that I know are true even when my brain is trying to convince me of the complete opposite. What’s helped you so far in your journey?
@Jay Wright as i have studies and prefer to study at night when my symptoms are more managable, it'll take a while to readjust back to sleeping at night. i'm all in with talking about intrusive thoughts together as it'll help to share about such struggles, especially when coming from similar places. i've been doing the same, recognizing myself and my true intentions despite my state. it's almost a month and i'm still here, i guess, i'll hold on some more :)
@2K1spaceodyssey Ohh I get that. I wish you the best of luck with your studies! If you don’t mind me asking, are you in college? If so, what’s your major? And I know it’s hard, but I’m proud of you for continuing to work through your thoughts despite it all 🥹 What are your main obsessions that tend to get in the way? And please feel free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing bc the last thing I want to do is unintentionally trigger you
@Jay Wright yes! i aspire to study computer enginnering or something similar. these intrusive thoughts really get to me even when i am studying, and compeng is a lot to deal with in itself. i'm not exactly comfortable with sharing my specific thoughts, i appreciate you considering that - although they heavily revolve around pocd and harm ocd. sometimes it's as easy as saying to myself these thoughts aren't my own, sometimes it takes a bit more effort. how about you?
@2K1spaceodyssey I’m so sorry I’m late! I didn’t get notified that you replied 😭 but that’s so cool! That’s my dad’s career as well and it’s treated him very well financially. I wish you all the best with your journey towards becoming a computer engineer and I hope that passion/interest remains strong for as long as possible. Also I know exactly how you feel. The intrusive thoughts infiltrate into every aspect of your life, even the good parts, which sucks. And I completely understand not wanting to share the specifics, that’s no problem at all, but I appreciate you for opening up about the realm of your obsessive thoughts. I get how stressful it can be to constantly hear those thoughts in your head and wonder if they’re valid or not. It’s exhausting. I personally have moral scrupulosity ocd which basically makes me hyper fixated on whether or not I’m a good person or my morals align with the norm which isn’t helpful considering I’m a lesbian and that goes against my entire family’s morals and religious views, so it’s definitely been a tough journey towards self acceptance
I’m here for you
heyo!!
