Just wanted to jump on here and express how I have felt lately. The past 5 to 6 months have been pretty excruciating. I conquered OCD 5 years ago and for some reason, it has slipped back and took over my life again. More so the depression that came along with it. Is there anyone else out there that has returned to rock bottom where they once fully climbed themselves out of?
yep. i was diagnosed with ocd years ago and had a pretty bad flare up a couple years ago. i went to treatment and it got really easy to deal with for a bit. a year ago i had a trauma that completely triggered the ocd and it feels worse this time. i think it’s so normal for it to flare up at different times in our lives. try to remember what skills helped last time and how you got out of it. do you go to therapy? or do ERP?
@Jesuslovesyouu I unfortunately don’t have insurance at the moment so I had to cancel all of my ERP sessions with my therapist who I found on here 5 years back. I kind of thought I had all the tools in the bag for when It did come back, but apparently not. Went through a career change and a few different jobs which I believe may have triggered it…
@strugglebusmane i’m sorry to hear that! sometimes there are online or in person therapies that can work with you and do sliding scales that make it cheaper! maybe something to look into! also not sure if you know Jesus but i know that turning to Jesus has helped heal me in so many ways and made the anxieties and ocd so much easier to deal with and gives me so much hope.

@strugglebusmane elsewhere! look up affordable online therapy. there’s websites like betterhelp.com that are much more affordable than other therapies
about a week ago my therapist, who is still in the process of confirming that I do have OCD, said that what I absolutely do have without a shadow of a doubt is depression. Hearing that shocked me, I didn’t feel “depressed” at all. I’ve had rough times when I can absolutely say “yah I’m depressed, this is depression” and this didn’t feel like it in any way. I even laughed about it a few times. That was until two days ago, when the diagnosis actually made sense. It was like OCD and its barrage of thoughts calmed down enough to make way for the single line of thought: “you can’t do this anymore. It’s too hard, it’s not fair that you should have to break down so many times and build yourself up over and over again. Why should you even try? How can you continue living like this? It’s too cruel, just give up.” It’s a different type of torture. It makes sense that these two godforsaken mental illnesses come hand in hand. I’m struggling more than I already was. It feels like it’s all over. I’m really having a hard time with this. Although, I’m aware that OCD and depression are the most common comorbid disorders. Has anyone else dealt with this hellish cocktail? Do you mind sharing your experience with me?? I would greatly, greatly appreciate it 😅🥺
Hi everyone. I haven't posted on here in quite in some time. I'm hesitant to post but I'm battling some things that are compounding onto each other. I've had ocd since 15 I'm 30 now..I feel it's still there but much better than years ago. Currently though I'm really struggling with depression and trauma too. Atleast I believe it's trauma and my psychiatrist saw some indicators. Long story short I was in a relationship with a narcissist and I'm still recovering. I feel my nervous system is still kinda on fight or flight. I've learned that our bodies very much stores trauma. Alongside this I'm pretty critical of my appearance and my self esteem is not so great. I've been putting myself out there more and socializing but I can't shake this feeling of being stuck in an endless loop. It's hard to tell what to tackle. It's difficult for me..I don't know if ocd treatment is for me or more so trauma based therapy. I think there is some overlap..any advice or feedback would be appreciated. A side note I've done ERP in the past and I've been to treatment centers such as mclean. I feel like I need a community because I feel pretty alone but I'm having trouble putting one foot in front of the other.
I'm new to NOCD, but not new to my own OCD journey. I was diagnosed in 2017 and usually experience relationship obsessions. Medication helped me tremendously and I was able to tackle and overcome the anxiety I felt when my husband and I first got together. Fast forward to now. My best friend has decided to casually enter the dating world again and that terrifies me. The fact that it scared me triggered an HOCD spiral, that I think I've now gotten myself out of. I just feel pathetic for being so fearful that my friend is going to realize she's too good for me and leave me behind once she has a partner. I know this likely stems from my own feelings of inadequacy and low self esteem, but my OCD has latched itself to this fear and I've been catching myself falling into old habits that I thought I'd overcome. I don't want to be living under the cloud again. Just looking for some encouragement or someone else who understands what this feels like.
