Morality/scrupulosity/problematic behaviour

So im a non-black WOC and i would never ever use the n-word but sometimes a family member or maybe even a random person will say it if its in song lyrics etc. And it always jolts me because i know I should correct them every, but i never know how to. Often times, when I try to tell others not to use slurs, they're just dismissive and don't want to change. But it still bothers me to the point where I sometimes have panic attacks about it and then all these intrusive thoughts that im a horrible, racist person who deserves to d1e. This kinda triggered me today and i just feel awful bc i don't know how to broach the topic without being dismissed.

Some people don't grasp the power of words. I'm sorry they are dismissive. I also get uncomfortable when someone uses a word for people that has a hateful or demeaning association or history. Though, why do you say you "should correct them" knowing that bringing up the topic gets dismissed?

idk i guess i just feel some sort of moral responsibility but i also hate confrontation and then getting the "this generation is so sensitive talk". i also think at some level they don't think its causing any harm because in their minds they're not referring to a specific person. but still, it gets to me i guess

I'm African American myself and it's not a word that I like to say. I also have friends that say it and don't really mind talking with that word in their vocabulary, but I don't do anything about it because I don't want backlash from trying to police how people speak. I remember how much I hated hearing it in high school as well. I only say it when I'm really really angry or upset at something or someone.

@moon0270 @moon0270 A have a lot of posts written all about it. I'm struggling really badly with my compulsive addiction and it's really affecting my mental health, OCD, self control, and it gives me more shame about myself overall. I'm trying to tell my therapist everything I can about this today because it's really messing with me. I hope it gets better this week. I hope you've been doing alright. :)

I think even if they dismiss you , you speaking up against using that word let's others no where you stand and that is still important. They may not change and thats their choice not your responsibility. But if you speak up , even simply as " thats not right to use that word" then you let others know what kind of character you have. So that they know at least you dont agree. You can't change their behavior. But you can show others where you stand.

Scared I acted on my thoughts while out of it

I woke up disassociating really bad ,I was super tired and if you read my prev post I've been having problems w depersonalization after a bad thc trip the other night. Im so so so scared I just said a slur or whispered it to myself because I cant properly remember things rn. I remember getting the thought and im scared i whispered it to myself and I cant tell if it happened or not bc waking up things feel rly blurry . It feels really real. I would never want to say such a word and im scared i did bc I was so out of it. I dont remember if i just had the thought or acted on it

Moral Dilemmas About My Sister

Hello! I don't know if someonecan help me clarify if this is part of OCD. I've suffered from the condition since I was a child and have experienced many subtypes. But right now, I have a thought that bothers me the most. It has to do with my sister. Is it normal for us to have obsessions with scrupulosity and to create dilemmas about actions someone we love would or wouldn't do as a symptom? I feel like this need for moral perfection is in my sister, and I think if she knows I thought badly of her, she'll never forgive me and my world will end.

Moral OCD, I think I’m panicking

I’m really, really spiraling, and I haven’t seen anyone talk about this. I think it might be something related to moral OCD. The topic of deportation is really getting to me, and I’m Latina myself. Anyway, I feel like people who are undocumented deserve to get caught and deported, and this is distressing me a lot. No matter how much I don’t want to agree with that, it feels like I do agree with it wholeheartedly. I think part of it is that if they weren’t undocumented, technically there wouldn’t be an issue, there wouldn’t be a problem, this wouldn’t be happening. I don’t know if this is stemming from anxiety or something else, but I feel like an awful person because I have people close to me who are undocumented, kind sweet loving people. I feel like I don’t know what to think. I see videos where people are mistreated, and it makes me so angry to see those power trips and the poor people who don’t deserve it. It just… I don’t know. I don’t know what to think. I don’t know. I don’t know if I’m in the middle of a panic attack right now because this feels really, really important. I don’t know if anyone else has struggled with this or with other moral themes, and I feel scared because this feels so real. I don’t feel scared, I feel worried. I know that the distressed contradicts the thought, but I’m telling you it does not feel like that matters right now, not one bit and maybe that’s because I’m stuck on a technicality maybe it’s because it’s stemming from anxiety, but I really need input right now :( I feel like a monster reading this back, plis help
