Have you been to counseling yet? We cannot diagnose you over the internet. I realize that you are young and feel very desperate for relief but the problem is that the more you continue to seek reassurance the worse off you will be. Try to use the app instead of posting here and see if you can sit with the uncertainty, that’s what I have to try and do when I’m in the middle of an attack. I’ve had this my entire life and it’s hard but you can do it! Find a professional to speak to, maybe a school counselor.

I don’t want you to think I mean you should not post here. You absolutely should. What I mean is that you have quite a few posts on this subject and I think that you are wanting reassurance. But that’s not what will help you on the long run.

@Harris plus my mom doesn’t believe that this is an actual problem for me, she just tells me she’ll love me the way I am but that doesn’t bring me relief or make me happy. I feel so disgusted with myself and I don’t feel like myself anymore.

@lexnot, I believe that going to your mother to ask her is a form of seeking reassurance. One of the really hard things about OCD is that you will never find relief in reassurance seeking. I know it’s maddening, but OCD denies both logic and reality. You need to learn to sit with the anxiety without compulsively seeking reassurance. It is so hard and seems nonsensical but it works. Seeing a therapist could help. I found acceptance and commitment therapy helpful and I’ve heard exposure and response therapy is helpful. @Harris, do you agree?

@starlord yes! Someone certified can help find the correct treatment. I really put my trust in therapy. Please find someone who specializes in OCD @lexnot. You are struggling and it’s taking a toll on your life. Believe me, I’ve been in your shoes. The good news for you is that mental help has come leaps and bounds since I was your age. My parents did not know what I was dealing with. If I knew then what I know now I would not have suffered as long as I have!
