I think this could be true. I also think we are HIGHLY observant to detail, even the smallest most overlooked ones.

I was just reminded of this question too and I thought well I certainly don't fit in that category. Not anymore at least. At this point I feel I'm losing my faculties. Have to be able to think about stuff without becoming overwhelmed. And that is not a happening thing.

“Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is not associated with a higher intelligence quotient (IQ), a myth popularized by Sigmund Freud, according to researchers at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Texas State University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.”

Well, I think one way to look at it is that OCD sufferers often HAVE to become intelligent, because in order to recover, you have to be able to understand your thinking pattern, forms of therapy, etc. So having the disorder can sometimes probably cause you to gain more knowledge, either because you’re genuinely curious about what’s going on in your head or you just pick up wisdom on your own through experience. Not only that , a lot of OCD sufferers have overactive brains and sometimes that can manifest itself in being fixated on things and picking up a lot of knowledge on whatever topic they’re super passionate about. Just my two cents though. Obviously you don’t need OCD to be intelligent, but I can see why someone with OCD would probably be intelligent.

Well yes but I mean If we are discussing IQ then the data says no, unfortunately there isn’t a correlation

Maybe! I am not sure if this is a question that anyone could give the right answer to. What if in a way, this is just us seeking answers to questions to make ourselves feel better?

Is it true that ppl without ocd may not even notice some of their thoughts in the first place that people with ocd notice and fixate on?

I know that sounds a bit harsh, but people with OCD think very differently then everyone else and we do strange things. I used to think OCD was just that we overthink to much and have compulsions to fix it, but its kinda alot more than that i realise. Like peoples lives are legit debilitated from this thing. Thats serious and i dont think others realise that. Mabye im concerned too much idk.

One of my best coping mechanisms somedays is to remember that while my OCD causes a lot of mental distress, it also can be a strength of mine. OCD has allowed me to thrive in my job, I tend to pay attention to small details and be in very good control of my work. I know exactly what is going on and often think before I say or jump to anger. I tend to apologize when something is truly wrong and be more genuine. I just know we all get in the habit of OCD being this absolutely terrible thing,,; and often it is,, but it also can be a strength in some. It shows I have empathy, am loyal, and a hard worker based on my attention to detail and want for control (even with my thoughts) ♥️♥️
