Compulsion?
Is distracting yourself from intrusive thoughts, a compulsion?

Depends. If you’re just acknowledging the intrusive thoughts while getting on with your day then no. But if you are forcing yourself to be distracted then yes
@DillonLee ohhh okay, thank you❣️
May be a form of avoidance, which is just as harmful as compulsions. Do some research and make sure you understand the difference, good luck!
i genuinely feel like i can’t sit still or that will make me feel like the thoughts will come and get louder and louder. i have to constantly play something either a show or music so i don’t think and try to drown my thoughts out with that.
Idk tbh
At times, my intrusive thoughts get so intense that all I can do is lay frozen in my bed and hope I fall asleep, and usually I do even if I'm not tired. My brain just wears me out and I wanna escape through sleep. (Sadly it doesn't work all the time)
I’ve noticed that I’m somewhat happier also ignoring my thoughts than I am instead of doing compulsions (I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired atp) but I’ve heard you’re technically supposed to do erp rather than pushing under the rug. But idk if I have a thought I just refuse to think about it again and im fine even if I want to do compulsions
So maybe the title wasn't the best to to put it but when you guys start having obsessive thoughts how do you stop them before it turns into compulsions and anxiety?
