I have serious contamination OCD where I put some hand sanitizer on my lips yesterday. I felt my lips were contaminated. Will I die from doing this? I quickly put carmax on my lips right after it. What will happen to me. I need help.
The help comes from being uncertain about it. I know that sounds backwards but reassurance will only temporarily help your worry while simultaneously making your OCD grow bigger. If you’re extremely concerned I think it’s OK to ask a doctor or nurse once, but other than that don’t seek it throughout your day. If you have an ERP therapist talk with them about it and if not I recommend looking at Nathan Peterson or Jonathan Greyson videos or Dr McGraths Q&A videos. Also I know how scary the feeling is, bcoz I have contamination OCD too. And I have put hand sanitizer on my face before and I also worried right after. (Which is a compulsion we should avoid). Now when my face or hands feel dirty I try to at least work on delaying the compulsion to remove the dirty ness, even if it’s 1 min longer of a delay, then 5 min, and so forth. Overtime it gets easier and you don’t feel the need to do that
You won't die as the minimal amount of sanitizer should break down in your stomach acid. Also if you drink water right after it will help you flush out the residue even faster. You will be fine! I have really bad contamination OCD and I used to brush my teeth with lots of soap.

I have a problem that I'm scared to catch a serious illness like hiv or aids from kissing people or becoming to close to them. It makes me get away from people and I have problems in relationships because I cant trust them if they are clean and I'm too freak... this Sunday I kissed a girl I met on tinder and she made me an scar on my mouth... and now I feel terrible cause if her blood got into my scar I may have caught hiv. I have been 3 days on terrible distress and this sucks... I dont know how to not think about it and I really dont talk to this girl anymore, I checked her mouth 2 or 3 times for injuries or blood (she didn't had any and I dont know if she has hiv or not) but I'm in terrible distress just for the fact that I had an open cut while kissing her and thst kiss could have made me sick with hiv. I really hate this and I hate myself and my decisions of kissing her. And this combines qith my religious compulsions... I'm really hating myself, OCD and illness right now... I'm in big distress and just want to vent a little bit. I just hope I didn't caught hiv from kissing this girl that made me an open cut as I said before but I cant be sure and this makes me crazy.... I just hate it... and hate this thoughts
I have pretty bad contamination ocd. It makes it hard for me to eat enough or drink enough because of my compulsions. It’s getting pretty serious because I hardly drink enough water now. Yesterday I drank maybe two bottles of water and stopped drinking around 2 pm. It’s 10:30 am here and I’ve drank 3 glasses of water finally but that’s only because I started feeling dizzy and light headed. The room was tilting and now I feel pretty sick to my stomach because I know I’ve got to be logically dehydrated. But ocd is up to it’s tricks making me think it’s worse than what it is that maybe I’m really sick, or drugged or poisoned etc. I’ve never really had this happen before. I know logically I have to be dehydrated and this cannot continue. It scares me because I’m not even meaning for it to get this far. It’s just really hard fighting off ocd. I don’t know what to do and I can’t drive myself to therapy now because of the dizziness/lightheadedness. What’s the quickest way to get back to normal?
Hi i’m new here. Everyone in my family except me is now positive for Covid and i’m freaking out so badly i cannot sleep. i cannot eat. i’m worried i’m going to get sick, i have a phobia of throwing up too on top of all of this so it’s making this even more difficult hearing coughing/gagging/vomit. My face is literally tingling numb and i cannot sit still. I’m trying to calm myself the best I can because this is almost a nightmare to me but nothing is working and my therapist isn’t even responding to me. What do i do? i’m so scared
