Hello , I’m diagnosed with OCD as well as ADD and anxiety and short term memory issues . It’s so much sometimes, I don’t even like going out in public because being around people gives me me anxiety, if I see something out of place wherever I go I have to fix it because it will bother me . I never pick the first thing g from the shelves at the grocery store I will literally reach for the third one from the back . Sometimes I feel crazy and no one understands me . Just want to feel like everyone else .

I have perfectionism ocd too. You know how you can feel like everyone else? Change your thinking and behavior. You take the first item on the rack, and you keep moving forward. And you do it again the next day and the next day and the next day. Those of us with ocd are trying to control/neutralize our anxiety. And that is what causes the cycle to continue and continue and continue. It takes a lot of courage to allow erp to work because we have to live with anxiety without performing compulsions to neutralize it. I learned more about ocd through my own failures than when i went to an ocd therapist in 2017. I got absolutely nowhere with him because i didnt have the courage to be honest with him about my obsessional worries. I was so weired out by them. And i would use antidepressants as a crutch instead of not taking them and pushing through the panic attacks. Erp only works for the people that are truly dedicated to it. Kinda like 12 steps for alcoholics.

OCD and ADHD

I was wondering if anyone else has ocd and adhd. The two are so difficult to treat together medication wise. Stimulants often flare up ocd and anxiety and ssri’s do nothing for my adhd. I feel even more off task while on an ssri. So the result now is I’m unmedicated and in therapy once a week which isn’t enough for me. Does anyone else have this same diagnosis and if so what works for you?

OCD and Clutter/Messy Home

Does anyone deal with having a very messy living space? I know for myself, a combination of OCD, ADHD, and Depression make it very difficult to keep my space clean, and the mess is having a negative effect on my mental health, but it feels overwhelming and impossible to conquer. Has anyone else dealt with this? Do you have any strategies for managing this?
