I still have symptoms, but I would say it’s not as active. I focus on being present instead of mentally reviewing the past (my compulsion) I used to confess to events from the past and to semi false memories. I just remind myself maybe or maybe not to whatever my fear is. So if I worry about being a good person I say maybe I am or maybe I’m not and I let myself feel my uncomfortable feelings. They pass when they want to pass and trying to control them can make OCD worse.
We all can learn to manage any of the OCD subtypes because not matter what topic we are struggling with OCD obsessions , all are the same the only difference is what a person obsesses about. My tips are : getting knowledge about our diagnosis, learning and practicing ERP techniques, and remind myself I am obsessing about a unrealistic fears. I use this acronym F ear : F alse E evidence A that appears R eal
Hello everybody I just am looking for someone to talk to about my harm ocd / false memory/ sexual intrusiveness. Anyone who has healed or found ways to deal with the illness. Feels like I’m losing hope more and more everyday. I want to be okay but it’s hard living with uncertainty and unwanted urges of doing something terrible. Thanks god bless.
Anyone know any ERP techniques or specific exposures that help with health anxiety OCD? I’ve heard such great things about ERP for other subtypes but I can’t think of any for health related OCD. I’d appreciate any advice!
Can anyone share any success stories regarding Pure/Real Event OCD? I think I just want some uplifting news more than anything, though this may read as reassurance seeking… not sure what counts and what doesn’t. So any education on that may be helpful too. Many thanks!!
