Does anyone else struggle with sitting in public seats. I always have to check if the seat is clean or sometimes I wipe it before I sit. At home I have designating “clean” chairs. If there’s a stain on the chair I freak out and assume it’s bodily fluids.
I used to not be able to sit down in public and anyone I was with would be judging me like “why aren’t you sitting down” I still find it really hard but make it less obvious and just force myself to sit down in public because people are judgy if I don’t Like I find it hard that I have to sit on the bus or on a chair in public because they all feel dirty But I tell myself I can wash/ change my clothes as soon as I’m home
@ambermayx I feel this way too, but l just try to wipe before sitting or make sure the seat is clean first
@ambermayx It’s just really awkward when I am with other people. I know it’s irrational and I’m wearing clothes to protect me but it’s hard with ocd

This use to happen to me but now I just remind myself that their pants will cover it

New to the group! I’m 38 and have had OCD since I was 8 (officially diagnosed at 34). My OCD used to revolve around order and cleaning. In the last year it developed into a chronic series of intrusive thoughts centered around parasites. Lice, bed bugs, fleas....you know it. I’m constantly checking beds, hair any surface. I’m now on my umpteenth attempt with medication and cognitive behavioral therapy. I feel like I’m the only person with these irrational sets of intrusive thoughts. It’s embarrassing and isolating. Anyone here who has a similar fear or focused fear that triggers their ocd?
I’m new to this app and really happy to be within a community of people working through same thing. I have been working through contamination ocd since the start of the pandemic. It’s debilitating mentally. It just wants me to seek certainty in every compulsion and also reassurance and researching online incessantly. Anyone else struggle with this specific ocd? Wiping down doorknobs every time someone touches them. I can’t even sit outside in the grass I’m afraid of the pandemic. I won’t touch my groceries for three days. I miss my old self. I literally feel like a different person since March.
Who else on here has contamination OCD it would be awesome to talk to others in the same boat
