I have to visit a place tomorrow which triggers my contamination ocdand false memory ocd really bad, can anyone help me in this panic situation. Tips needed!
I did this before a few times. Though it was a sort of panicky feeling before I did it, I felt better after I did it. These places were places that others went and probably never gave it a second thought. It was MY ocd.and I guess once I went to those places I felt like I had accomplished things I hadn't before. I don't have any real tips except to recognize it is your ocd and ocd is really just thoughts.....unwanted ones I guess but only thoughts. After you go to the place you will see that you did something you did not want to do and you are ok! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
It's actually my hostel, after the last ocd flare up i left it,now i have to go back for few hours there. But i'm anxious. But, thank you for the advice
@Kinu Your own hotel that you own? Ok. Well I had a very similar thing happened when I moved from.your last house. As we slowly moved things into the new house my husband was doing work on them house we had bust bought. One day I.went there with my small kids to show them the house and what my husband was doing there fixing it up. We ended up going out to eat and went and picked up some things we needed from.your first home , put dogs, and my husband took my rings thinking they could be stolen. There was something in that house (a,few things) and my husband came to the car with the rings after going and being by what I was worried about.. I never wore them again...!!!😭😭😭😭😭 What is more...we only returned there a couple times more if that and it was hard! ,I never had any closure and I left things there that to this day i am upset about. , We had moved much of our stuff to the new place (which I never wanted to move to) and my husband went back for the rest. What we had not taken my brother either has it, donated it, or who knows what! I guess I don't want to give advice cuz we all have DIFFERENT situations but if I could go back....I would. I would have taken the rest of my belongings that now I am sad for not having I would try and power through it if you can. I have many many many wishes that I had done things differently. It was only supposed to be that night that we stayed there overnight but after that night I never spent the night three again. Ugh!!!😭😭😭
@Kinu Amd it was my Family home/childhood hone that I cannot get this things back. My brother cleaned the building out and it was sold. Don't lose your chance that I lost going back. It may be panicky, etc but you will be happy you did it. I wish I had..
@Anonymous Okkkk...i'll try going there and staying for few hours. It may feel weird but i have been staying there since 7 years i cannot afford to turn my best memories to worst.
@Kinu Yes, good idea! You have no idea how much I regret not going back to the house the day I took out kids to the new house jyst to show them what their dad was working on. I had lived in thug first building my entire life...since I was born and when my husband and I got married waived on them second floor apartment above my folks I always wanted to go back to get all the thibgs we had not taken but was busy with the kids and my I d s good in the day. Since then house had to be sold everything had to be taken out and that is when I should have gone for sure! , My brother took some stuff but has,only given me some photos and jewelry. I literally gave 2 pictures of me as a kud!!!, There were thousands. I guess he has some stuff at his place but still has to look through it. Just don't not go and regret it later. You can do this!!! I just found out today that a family friend will be staying over at my house (I live with my parents) for a night. And I have contamination ocd and that’s causing me anxiety. I fear that her being here will contaminate my home, which is like my safe place. It’s hard just sitting with the anxiety. I want this day to be over! Does anyone have anything to support me? Thanks
Does anyone have any tips on how to handle contamination OCD?
I’m experiencing anticipatory anxiety related to OCD. I have an important trip in 7 weeks and travel triggers my ocd. My feelings are just a dull ache in my belly constantly, and a jittery feeling. I’m confused about the actual obsessions. I used to have harm OCD that sprung from a travel incident years ago and ever since then, travel has been very fear inducing. I get the physical symptoms then my mind starts going hard. I ruminate about whether or not the stress will cause intrusive harm thoughts which in turn causes some intrusive harm thoughts. It’s very confusing and hard. I want to be someone who enjoys traveling and experiencing new things. I want so badly to enjoy this trip. Any advice helps. Thanks.
