Believing in God is also a matter of faith. Believing that thoughts have power is also a kind of faith. But people say we should believe in God — then why shouldn’t I believe that thoughts have power too?
It seems you might be mixing up three different concepts: fact, fiction, and faith (or belief). A fact is something that can be verified through your five senses—it’s observable, measurable, and has a reasonable explanation. For example, you can see, touch, or hear it, and its existence can be demonstrated. Fiction, by contrast, refers to things that cannot be validated by your senses and don’t make logical sense. An example would be claiming the existence of a “circular triangle”—something that’s inherently contradictory. Faith is different from both. It refers to beliefs that cannot be directly verified by the senses, but which are nonetheless reasonable or supported by indirect evidence. For example, when Einstein first theorized about black holes, there was no direct sensory evidence, but his reasoning and calculations made the idea plausible. Belief in God falls under faith—it isn’t directly observable, but many find it reasonable or supported by indirect evidence. On the other hand, attributing supernatural powers to thoughts is neither something we can verify with our senses nor something that makes logical sense, so it doesn’t fit the definition of faith or fact.

@Shopiya You don't need to believe in facts. You know for a fact that they are. You don't believe in fiction, because it doesn't make the doubt cut. You believe in what you can't confirm with your senses, but it makes logical sense.
@hanysm@gmail.com My OCD is telling me that everything in this world has value. How can you say OCD thoughts don’t have value? Even dust can form a rainbow. Everything is made by God, so everything has value so OCD thoughts must also have value.
@Shopiya I wrote this response some time ago, so it may take me a moment to remember the original context. That said, it really depends on what you mean by “value.” If you’re referring to value as a consequence or result, then yes, it could have value. And in the OCD thoughts, negative feelings and waste of person energy. But if you mean value as something quantifiable or physical, then I’d ask you: does energy or something like gravity have a tangible, physical value? Back to OCD-related thoughts, they are essentially random electrical impulses in the brain. These thoughts and hypothetical scenarios usually focus on the past or future—things outside of your control. So, what real value does such weak electrical activity actually have?

@Shopiya Feelings and thoughts are examples, if it didn't materialize into a motivator for actions. That's why in religious context, God won't judge us on our thoughts or intentions, unless it is followed by a physical action. The same with society and laws, you might hate somebody, but as long as you didn't allow such feeling to translate to a verbal or otherwise actions, nobody could hold you to it. It is called freedom of speech.

What’s involved in this process? •demons •tyrants (actual people) •replacing hobbies with church I believe we were all born with talents, interests, I don’t think religion or spirituality should ever be a hobby or something for fun or to dive into when ur bored religion or spirituality should only be approached when needed needed crucially needed is what I’m starting to believe. That just makes sense. Why would God want us thanking him constantly when he just wants to help us and want us to know like “hey bro here if u need anything holler at me.” and like he kicks up his feet and does his own thing, like what if god is just like that and then here I am having mad anxiety that I just put Gods name I lowercase but I meant no disrespect towards god when doing that. n that’s my point again, why would the person who created me to experience feeling grass on my thighs and walking this earth to look at sunsets he creates for us each day n eat good yellow mangos n explore rainforest and ultimately “LIVE LIFE.”, of course I would assume the one who wanted us to experience life on earth for a bit would maybe perhaps be like any ordinary day and say, “make good decisions.” Before you walk out the door, like imagine the whole Bible was just those 3 factors I’ve just pointed out •live life • make good decisions •I’m here if you need me I’m really gonna create the type of God that works for me idc anymore this is really giving me so much peace Do/Did many/most people with OCD have an absent parent/abusive parent? I’m starting to think that could also be another reason why OCD is developed Is that already a proven fact? Would make lots of sense.
I have intrusive thoughts about God. But sometimes it seems like I do think them myself. I don't agree with them. But it's like I get too exhausted to fight anymore, or when my mind calms down, I don't feel right without the thoughts so I think them myself and idk why. I'm pretty sure I'm going to hell.
One of my primary themes is “just right” OCD, paired with magical thinking. I don’t actually believe something bad will happen, but I feel like I deliberately make up scary, catastrophic thoughts like “xyz person will die” just to pressure myself into doing the just-right compulsion and relieve the anxiety. It’s like I use magical thinking as a tool, even though I know it’s irrational. Does this still count as magical thinking? Can anyone else relate?
