It's works for OCD. and activate your brain ..no sideeffect. .it's so safe
So far I’ve had a couple side effects.... including nausea so that sucked. It seems to have worn off now though. I’m a little over a week taking it now and I haven’t noticed any differences yet
@kaitlin23 Side effects debilitate after time...it takes at least 20 days until it works ...
@bright I means you may not feel Improvement until 20 days
All depends on the person. I’ve heard stories that it’s worked very well for some people. It didn’t really help me though, primarily because my body is resistant to it though.
No matter what medication it is, the effectiveness all depends on the individual and the dosage. Some medications have more evidence to work better but nothing is 100% proven to work for everyone.
I’m on my 5th week of Prozac. It has definitely helped my physical symptoms of anxiety but my intrusive thoughts are still running around like crazy. I’m giving it a few more weeks to see if it helps anymore. I would say give it a shot and try to stick it out for at least a month on it.
I’ve been taking Prozac since March and it’s had mixed affects. At the time I started taking them I had about a medium level of OCD and high level of depression. The Prozac helped with my depression 100%, and I think since I felt so happy the ocd decreased. I felt pretty happy for a few months. I still had ocd but it reduced a lot. I increased from 10 to 20 but over the summer my anxiety got bad. I wasn’t depressed but my ocd became very very bad especially in contamination. I have no idea if the medication caused it or just my life events. I don’t have depression but my ocd is still really bad, I’ve increased to 30 mg and I’m really hoping it helps. The only side effects I’ve felt is tiredness and dizziness but it only lasts the first few days/weeks of taking them with a new dosage. If you have depression I really think it could help that. It is proven to help with ocd so don’t take my experience as proof. My physiatrist said that you need to take 60 to 80 mg for it to effectively make a difference in ocd, but I’m making my way up there. It should still help though, everyone is different
Emmannn I don’t have depression but suffer from realllyyy bad contamination ocd. I know I need to suck it up and just let it give a chance to help me but I’m so afraid that it ruins the moments I don’t suffer from ocd
Here’s my issue I was given Prozac too and even my ocd is giving me doubts. I’m scared that the side effects will take over the parts of my life that are fine right now. For example school and work. If I get nauseated, I will do poorly. If I get sleepy, same thing. I know that it may or may not happen but I can’t seem to take the risk. Also, in the few hours where I don’t suffer from ocd I’m worried that the meds will just make those miserable too with sleepiness or nausea so I will have time with compulsions and on top of that nausea, sleepiness etc.
I felt that way too and I’m not going to lie I had a few weeks that were extra rough with side effects but I’m finding that they are tolerable and starting to go away. If you can ride it out for a few weeks it may be worth it long term. I would rather have extra tough month or so then years of ocd ruining everything. Good luck :)
Does anyone have experience of fluoxetine for OCD? I know someone who is on it for anxiety and it’s made a huge difference so far, and I think I’d like to give it a go but I’d just be interested in hearing others’ experiences. I also have emetophobia so the side effects of nausea is putting me off a little.
Does anyone have any good experiences with SSRIs for OCD?
In a great place with my OCD but had some lingering anxiety I couldn’t shake. Just started taking Prozac and am curious if anyone has taken it and what their experience has been. Currently I’m on day 3 and feeling tons of energy and am happy but not sure if that’s normal / will last.
