Confessing thoughts
What is the difference between confessing your thoughts and telling someone about your OCD?
What is the difference between confessing your thoughts and telling someone about your OCD?
Confessing is looking for forgiveness or reassurance- it’s focused on guilt. Telling someone you about OCD is explaining what it is and how it affects you - it’s an explanation to provide information. At least that’s my perspective.
For me, confessing would always be explaining exactly details of an exact thought vs giving like a broad description of my illness
I am wanting to go to therapy to hopefully lower my OCD symptoms but I am terrified to tell anyone else, like a therapist, about my intrusive thoughts. Has anyone else had this experience and if so how did you get over it?
I’m having the need to confess that I was unfaithful to my girlfriend (even though I was not) because I drank too much Saturday night and don’t remember every single second from my evening. My OCD immediately goes to that I cheated on my girlfriend and I need to confess my sins. I know it’s only OCD, but the thoughts are extremely strong. Any suggestions? Thank you, community.
Does confessing an intrusive thought just make it come back stronger?
