Frequent urination at night

Does anybody else feel like they have to go pee just one last time except it happens over and over again at night time? I usually cave and go to the bathroom after feeling like I have to for a long time but it’s always just a dribble like I didn’t actually have to go. I was seeing a physiotherapist for pelvic floor exercises and she said that it wasn’t a physical issue and that it was most likely psychological. Wondering if this is OCD? Somatic OCD possibly?

Hi yes I’ve gotten this a lot rest assured you’re not the only one with this problem. It truly is a mental thing, it doesn’t make any sense because you don’t actually have to go, it’s definitely OCD because your mind obsesses over it thinking it’s a real concern but in actuality it makes no sense. I’d feel like I couldn’t go to sleep unless I went again even though I didn’t have a normal feeling like I needed to, it’s the anxiety buildup that truly does it. Rumination is a killer and I’ve struggled with this for a while, that’s good you saw someone for it though but just try not to get bogged down by it as it’s not real and it’s just a needless thought that takes over. You just have to let go of it and listen to your body in when it’s in a calm statetalking to God helps a lot too.

@VictoriaCatherine#88 Thank you for your reply. It’s hard because sometimes it keeps me up at night. I was considering on getting adult diapers to sleep in at night because I’m so anxious about wetting the bed. However, I’ve never had that problem, even in childhood. I probably shouldn’t get the diapers if it’s just OCD.

Hard to say anything definitively. I’m an old man. So I get up to pee 6-10 times a night because that’s unfortunately what happens to old men. However, there are such things as irritable bladder where people feel the urge to urinate even when their bladder isn’t empty. Question you have to answer is whether or not this is something that you experience all the time or if it’s just right before bed. If it’s only just right before bed, it’s likely some type of somatic or sensorimotor OCD. But if you experience it throughout the day where you feel the urge to urinate, and nothing comes out, you might want to talk to a urologist.

@mav6 Thank you for your reply. It’s only at night time before bed so that’s what’s leading my physiotherapist to suggest it’s psychological.

@Ocelots are cool I’m not a urologist, but given my experience with my urologist and my condition, I’d be inclined to think it’s psychological if it’s only at bedtime. My frequent urination is 24 hours a day and doesn’t have any patterns or associations like bedtime, meals, etc

i’m so obsessed with emptying my blatter completely to the point where i sit on the bathrooom for 30 mins literally forcing myself to pee as much as possible even if it brings me pain. and then after i finish and go back into my room i feel like my ocd might be tricking me and making me think i have to use the bathroom and pee AGAIN! even tho i just spent 30 minutes in there. and recently i always get up and use the bathroom again and everytime i go i literally barely even pee. and sometimes i don’t at all. and it’s so annoying bc the second i go back to bed it physically feels like i have to go pee and it’s so hard to ignore the feeling and convince myself that it’s just in my head so these past times that this has happened i always end up giving in and getting up to use the bathroom. i’m literally feeling like getting up and usuing the bathroom rn again after spending 30 minutes in there and i’m finding it so hard to not go. i feel like after j finish typing this i’ll go straight to the bathroom. idk how to deal with this

Sleep

Does anyone else get an insane surge to pee before bed even though you just peed? I got out the showered and peed and have been in bed maybe 20-30 mins and can’t seem to fall asleep because my brain keeps telling me I have to pee. But other parts of my brain say no because of my bathroom contamination fear.

OCD repetitive peeing

Anyone have any intake or advice on what to do with regards to trying to sleep but your OCD won’t stop having you think that emptying your bladder before bed even though you know it’s empty but your mind doesn’t think or feel right about it so you go repeatedly and develop a cycle?
