Dax Shepard is a fucking idiot

It is beneficial look at the television show Monk , just joking 🙃 around a little .

As with most people I take him with a “grain of salt “. On some levels he draws attention and perhaps some people might research things more by watching him , so indirectly he might be helpful. This is just my personal opinion.

Is there context to his post? I believe it can be beneficial too depending on where you're at in your recovery journey. I know initially a flippant statement like that from anyone is annoying but maybe they have a petdpethst you haven't got yet. Even though I'm saying this, I still wouldn't wish ocd on the worst person in the world.

I agree I have Pocd and Hocd and it's a nightmare 24/7 I hate when people think ocd is just a dumb cleanliness or rechecking things. It might be a little but ocd is no laughing matter. I wish and pray for the people that have it one day get better

It can be hard to be so wildly misunderstood by the general public - seems invalidating in a way to suffer as much as we have and feel as if we should be thankful. That being said, I’m realizing lately that OCD may have benefited me in some ways. I wouldn’t say it’s been overly beneficial, but there’s always positives to anything. It made me much more empathetic towards others who suffer in any way because I can relate. It’s allowed me to tolerate distress and pain in other areas of my life because if I can survive this, I can survive anything. It’s pushed me to try things I never would have done before I had it. In a backwards way, it solidifies what truly matters to me because I wouldn’t obsess over things that hold no meaning in my life. This doesn’t take away from all of the pain and I wish more than anything that I didn’t have OCD, but I can now acknowledge some of the benefits/positives of my experience. It’s not perfect and I chronically doubt anything I find solace in, but I’m learning to challenge myself to consider the positives within the negative.

As someone whose OCD has also latched on hardcore to current events, I just want to say I understand.

I agree, it's just so stupid and infuriating when people pretend like they have any idea what they're talking about when they really don't. OCD is like psychological torture from your own mind; take it from someone who (for the most part) overcame severe OCD. I also have a few friends who have OCD as well, and they all say the same thing (not the same words, but the same idea). OCD is not beneficial at all, even if it may appear that way. For example, looking in from the outside at someone with mild contamination or just-right OCD, they might just seem clean and tidy. But it's what's on the inside that characterizes OCD, and what's on the inside is a tornado of fear, anxiety, shame, or distress that eats away at you until it feels like it's gonna break you. OCD doesn't do anybody any favors, believe me. Saying things like "OCD is helpful" or the well-known "I'm so OCD" not only harms people struggling with OCD by invalidating our experiences, but people without OCD get dangerously misinformed. One last point, didn't this guy struggle with painkiller addiction or something? He should be on the team, instead of spreading misinformation about OCD when he had (has?) his own mental health issues to deal with. It's just so ignorant.
