erp question
i give my cats belly rubs and they love it. im getting anxious im abusing my cat because i touch her nipple area when i rub her belly, she doesn’t mind at all but i feel guilty but it feels so kinda a funny weird feeling when i do it so now i feel guilty. would go erp be to rub the area a little more to expose myself?
not a mental health provider either but if your cat typed an answer to this question the answer would be like “yes, i will need 5 hours of belly rubs a day and also an entire can of tuna each day for you to recover in full, signed, definitely a professional 🐾” agree that it sounds like a good idea to pet your cat’s belly as a form of exposure though but i’d ask for guidance from a professional to be sure ☺️

@noone800 You kinda need to keep rubbing it to do the exposure tho and sit with those feelings. Your cat is safe.
I'm not a mental health provider so don't take my answer as gospel, but I think it seems like a good exposure. Maybe set aside a certain amount of time dedicated to belly rubs or do it as long as kitty can tolerate. Wishing you well!
I have this image that comes to my mind without a warning. In this Image, I touch a child inappropiately to an inappropiate area. Im not afraid of doing something bad to a child, but Im afraid of this image because it brings along the high anxiety as it makes me doubt if I d i d something bad. It feels almost true. Because of this I used to avoid changing nappies, washing our baby etc. My compulsion was, and somewhat still is, avoidance of certain situations+ rumination. Have noticed counting to be one as well (almost like keeping track of time, or mind busy when being in a situation that I know the image may pop in my head) Have learned to avoid both of these but after the image Im left with anxiety, which turns to sadness, feeling very low. I used to have these daily when our child was a baby and still when she was a toddler, now the image comes may be once in two weeks. Still every time Im left with this same lowness. I had this kind of moment yesterday and again it feels almost true- what if I did touch her. Does anybody have similar situation? Also, if there is professional on the line, I would like to start Erp. I don't know how to proceed without support. Thank you beforehand for any advice.
Once again ocd that happens every few months is back. Recently i’ve been stuck in a compulsion where i scratch the side of my cats back which is close to her butt. it’s right on the side by it. My mind keeps telling me i’m abusing her. Yes it’s close to her butt but i’m not touching it at all. She also loves when i pet her there! she goes crazy!!! and advice on how to deal with this?
i told my therapist about erps i could try and do (like her bringing a knife or scissors or a lighter next time i see her) and she thinks it’s a good idea, but now i’m having anxiety about when she actually brings them 😭 i’m scared i might act out on intrusive thoughts and hurt her. is this normal? like is it normal to feel anxious when you know you’re going to do an erp 😭
