I was on Zoloft and I was hallucinating, meds really aren’t for me but they do help reduce anxiety. But they just help you deal with having ocd not really taking it away.

It's not a bad idea. In the end, it's what you want. I was terrified and afraid of meds making my symptoms worse and I tried a couple before I found the right fit. Now, I'm so happy I went on them. It did level me out and I feel like my old self again. For me, the combination helped but for some its ether, or. Tune into your body and meditate on what you think is right for yourself. Also, meds work differently for everyone so it's ok to do your research and find out what's right for you.

Yeah it took me a while to figure out meds that work for me. I finally got on Prozac and it’s been a major boost for me. I still have symptoms but I’m able to get on with my day , I’m also on the minimum dose so might try going up idk yet. I also do OCD therapy and the medication helped the therapy take effect. I also try to exercise and eat well, but with school and work it’s hard. Once I graduate It will be easier I hope.

Yeah honestly I didn’t think meds would work , but yeah its a lot of trial and error. But the payoff is worth it. Most of my life is back , i still have tension headaches tho not as bad as they use to be tho.

I started with Zoloft which really gave me bad side effects and ended with Prozac which has been very beneficial and I taking the lowest dose. Haven't had any side effects

Again, it may be different for you. Try asking your doc/psychiatrist what they recommend. I hear lexapro is a good one too

Yaaa my doctor was very open to my suggestions. I actually did my own research and found that lexapro and Prozac seem to have the least side effects.. I also started with half of the minimum dose for a week before I went to the low dose. It's been very beneficial for me personally but again I'm not a professional and don't want to give wrong information. Feel what's right for you and if it doesn't feel right - explain to your doc your symptoms. I told my doctor about Zoloft and he was very compassionate and helped me make the decision to start Prozac.

Oh yes. Haha extremely bad anxiety. I was so scared to take medicine at first, I was having panic attacks that I wouldn't survive taking a pill... my doctor was on the phone with me as I took it and cried to him. It was another sad moment but my quality of life was going down the drain and I was desperate. I don't want to sit here and say it's a magic pill. I also exercise everyday, try and eat well, socialize with family and friends and meditate. It's whole body/mind commitment to healing ?

Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.

Medication for OCD? Hello all, 19 male here, this seems like a cool community that isn’t nearly as triggering as reddit. I have pretty severe bouts of existential thinking or fear of going crazy ( psychosis ) after some pretty heavy mushroom trips a few years ago, I know logically I should be fine but I do know what it’s like to lose it and it’s scary. Currently I deal with relationship focused OCD, it’s all day from before I even open my eyes. I want things to work out with my girlfriend badly. Also I can come close to a panic attack sometimes which perpetuates everything. Anyway, I mention the fear of going crazy because the way my anxiety/derealization makes me feel is that I’m not mentally stable cause I feel out of it or unreal. I saw that a lot of anxiety and depression medication can cause psychosis and I feel like I could use some help in getting ahead of my OCD because the compulsions are had not to give into when I’m in such distress/not knowing. Plus overall I just feel like I have no idea how I feel about close to anything. Anyone relate about that ?

I’m starting NOCD. I had several years of cbt as a child (well over 20 years ago) and I see a trauma therapist. But now I’ll be seeking further help for OCD and just really scared. CBT wasn’t helpful for me. How has ERP been helpful for you? Do you feel like you’ll finally get your life back? I’m consumed by my obsessions 😢 Would love others feedback if ERP helped you ❤️
